I no longer support Multibit HD :(

After a love / hate relationship with Multibit  / Multibit HD over the last couple of years I have finally made the switch to Electrum.
There is so much to love about Multibit but I hate the unconfirmed transactions. I am constantly repairing the wallet but more often than not it doesn't work.
Usually the problem sorts itself out in time but I can't deal with a wallet that is so reliable so for now I am using Electrum until the developers make some changes.

Are there any known issues with Electrum? I'm using a very old version of Multibit ATM and wanting to switch to something new.

I respect your choice, Multibit can sometimes be glitchy and has clearly had problems in the past.  Electrum is better in many instances such as the ability to decide the address to send from, whereas Multibit's simplicity, while convenient, will not be for everyone or persist for many more experienced people.

No issues with latest Electrum 2.8.1. Electrum is a top shelf wallet and the only local wallet you can run from a folder on your desktop (use the portable version) for privacy. Using the portable version you can take it with you on a flash drive and the wallet will not be writing to your HDD.

i left multibit too. the wallet did not recognise my password too often and i had to install an old version to be able to access my funds. the best feature was "empty wallet". no i am done with multibit.

I switched too from multibit,

now i am using Bitcoin core, i had to download a few files but i got a big hard drive.

Up to now I can really recommend Bitcoin Core, but I suppose if you don´t want to stuff your Harddrive its no option

Every time you send BTC you DO send the entire amount of each input to an address up to the amount being sent plus fee and includes inputs of other addresses as necessary. Every time you receive btc to an address it is a separate input and are entities upon themselves. What you don't spend is returned as "change" usually to a new address, which is commonly referred to as a change address. The bitcoin protocol does not allow any portion of a input to be spent. Each time the entire input is sent. So if you have 1 bitcoin in one address as one input and you send someone .05 btc with a .0001 tx fee, 0.9499 btc will be returned to you as change, usually to a new address unless you clicked the option in electrum to not use change addresses, then the change will be returned as a new input to the same address it was sent from. Every time you receive money, electrum will show a new address to receive the next payment and each time you send btc a new change address will be used.

I too switched from multibitHD to electrum. I was having to restore the wallet nearly every day because the balance was not confirming. I prefer the multibit interface but since the developers have not fixed the bug after it has been going on for so long, I have completely lost confidence in it. It's a shame.
