First I want to sorry for posting in Bitcoin Discussion thread about alts, but exchanges were clear - BTU is just an alt:

"Since it appears likely we may see a hardfork initiated by the Bitcoin Unlimited project, We have
decided to designate the Bitcoin Unlimited fork as BTU (or XBU). The Bitcoin Core
implementation will continue to trade as BTC (or XBT) and all exchanges will process deposits
and withdrawals in BTC even if the BTU chain has more hashing power. Some exchanges
intend to list BTU and all of us will try to take steps to preserve and enable access to customers’
BTU. However, none of the undersigned can list BTU unless we can run both chains
independently without incident. Consequently, we insist that the Bitcoin Unlimited community (or
any other consensus breaking implementation) build in strong two-way replay protection. Failure
to do so will impede our ability to preserve BTU for customers and will either delay or outright
preclude the listing of BTU.
We are:

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I am sorry , Who Died and make you guys King of Deciding what is and what is not bitcoin.

The % of Miners with the Longest & Strongest Chain Determine what bitcoin is and what it specs are,

not a bunch of whiners that don't even mine. If you don't like those Cold Hard Facts , Tough , it is how PoW coins work.

If you are all Core / Blockstream Bitches, whatever, but the longest chain with the most difficulty is Bitcoin!

If you crybabies can't accept that , go get some counseling!

When you are driving a car and your clutch doesn't work/pump oil to smoothly neutralize the gearbox you could force the gear down but it will damage the gearbox, while segwit is the oil bitcoin unlimited is the dry gear down.
I wonder if network splits who can keep competing with BU power over the network? wouldn't that become a central network overpowered by BU miners?
I imagine then the Core chain will activate SW and difficulty will decrease by half which opens many doors for the ones who were late to join mining and after a 6 months of mining it will grow back and we could see which chain was a success, this only a set back but not a total failure.

OP post is just the corporations of DCG wanting to take over bitcoin and make it a corporation TIER'd network and remove it from being an open independant PEER network

just look at the list of the corporations. and whos pocket they sit in

http://dcg.co/portfolio/

the original 'statement' exchange_handling_of_contentious_hard_fork_event.pdf was wrote by coindesk (DCG company)

.. its gettiing so obvious now, that they are literally admitting it 'we are:'
its time they either accept consensus, or just go play with hyperledger which is thir endgame anyway, and leave bitcoin to be the open PEER network not the corporate TIER network

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.

Okay, an old article but if gives me an idea.

Basically, nothing more than a financial sector attempt to control bitcoin.

Well in theory it will be an alt as it'll be a new coin, but it'll be based on a variant of Bitcoin and it'll split from Bitcoin so the majority of mining power supporting BU might result in this alt becoming more popular, thus making the "original" Bitcoin struggle.

Interestingly, I could see the old Bitcoin adopting SegWit and potentially becoming even more popular than BTU afterwards, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Interestingly, I could see the old Bitcoin adopting SegWit and potentially becoming even more popular than BTU afterwards, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

you do know that segwit is using a new block design (a 2 room apartment not a 1 room apartment)
you do know that segwit is using a new tx design (the mother(witness/sig/proof of ownership) is moved to another room away from the child(txdata))
you do know that segwit is using a new validation method (the family social worker(node) has a new checklist, leaving the old checkist less than full)

segwit is the new coin. and existed as an altcoin in the elements project. and has totally rewrote bitcoin into something totally different.

dynamics is using native keys and same validation, its just allowing more tx's in (more families into the 1 room apartment by knocking a wall down to have a bigger room)

Bitcoin Unlimited is a solution which is closer to the original white paper. Core's solution is introducing a two-tiered network system with the original bitcoin layer used as a settlement layer, and users using banking style LN off-chain solutions. The latter sounds more like an alt to me.

Follow the influence trail:

core < blockstream < DCG < financial sector investors

Banks do not like bitcoin because they cannot control it. If people value bitcoin, for its trustless transaction nature, they should consider if they are sleep walking into a situation where the banks are allowed to control it. Do you want to hand it to them on a plate?

Note: I went into this discussion thinking segwit was a good idea. I now severely have my doubts about the direction it is taking bitcoin in.

no such thing, why are you asking, is it what they did to you? Show this photo to the police and tell them what they did with you. Shocked Now I realise why you hate them.
Buy why don't you like that btu is alt anyway, what do you have agains alts? You have another alt in your signature and see nothing bad in it.

Methinks you do protest too much, butt boy.

Considering you did not say they paid you, it means you are a willing whore.

Segwit/DeadWIT & LN OffChain transactions are the alt, sad you lack the IQ to understand that.

BTU is the fix to the transactions issue, your butt buddies are too lazy to implement.  Wink
