Not much, a few hundreds in one and a few tens in two other coins, so in total I have investments in just 3 altcoins, since most of my money is in bitcoin.

Well I make investments into altcoins around $1000 (I am ready losing money in trading altcoins just for $1000) in bitcoin then they become capital in trading altcoins on poloniex, i don't put $1000 in one coin there are some coins be traded are like dashcoin, monero, litecoin, ethereum and other coins that has large volume transaction daily, weekly and monthly for the ref I use marketcap.com

For now i have invested in only 2 altcoins that ks monero and eth. The reason i think these 2 can be the next bitcoin as they normally have a pretty stable growth and market cap isn't that bad. I would recommend you also to invest in few altcoins because investing in many altcoins can sometimes give you a loss.

as much as i can afford to lose
that goes for any kind of investment, obviously! but when it comes to investing in altcoins you have to know that they are not exactly rising and falling because of "real adoption" or in other words there is no real "demand" for almost all of them. (i say almost because i believe coins like Monero have some real demand and usage even if it is in dark market).

in short that means they get "pump and dumped" and if you get caught in the hype and buy into the pump or hesitate to sell on top you will lose a lot of money because when the dump comes, it will come pretty hard.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

I put $1000 in. Now I have over $100,000. I vowed to never invest any more and i don't want to cash out as i'm in Australia and the commission fees are 5% (that has taken over 3 years).

That sounds good, but I feel like i have missed some great opportunities.
I think there are still opportunities, but be business like about it. Treat it as a business., Cut you losses and let your profits run.  There are still opportunities out there. VERY good ones.

Think about it. There is so much still going on.

I would love to see small people make money from this too. But trading requires us to be tough on ourselves and to do things that may not be conventional wisdom in other areas.

p.s I worked professionally as a trader for about 15 years at various times and I have made all the mistakes. Im not perfect by any means, but I have some experience.  I would LOVE to see small people making money from this, rather than "big money".

In 3 years time span you made 100 times growth with your altcoin investments, really very much amazing to hear. Could you please share what were your choices, I mean on what are altcoins you have invested and in what percentage ?

More importantly if possible please share what are the criteria you are following to choose altcoins for investments. I guess your methodology and holding them for up to 3 years are the key for your success.

I made investments with dogecoins and litecoins and still holding with negative growth in bitcoin value.

There are many ways you can choose to invest that would give you results like that. I can't speak for OP but one way is to invest in value. I see that you invested in dogecoins and litecoins. I mean no offence at all but those coins are pretty much useless in terms of value. They're just bitcoin alternatives that get pumped up and then crashed. If you time it right, it will work but otherwise it can burn. So do some extensive research and find coins that actually innovate. In the end, intrinsic value always wins once the hype dies out. I'm not going to suggest any tokens, except one, because it ends up in people bickering. One thing we can agree on having value is ETH for example, and hence why it is gaining good traction (the sustainable kind). So, try this method and good luck!!

I just did invest almost hundred bucks with alt coins these past days and I've got 3 only alt coins of my choices. These coins seems to be my first and major choices, first with Monero, second with ETH and last with Chronobank(TIME).

I've bought Bitcoin in 2012...am i a genious ?
sadly no, early adopter.

Yes you are genius way back that time if you bought some bitcoins because there are people that are doubting to do so and you know what, I'm jealous to those people like.

I just only invest for 2 altcoins which I think best for me that is Eth and Dash. I think these would pump and I can earn profit for this altcoins. I just invest a little which I can afford to lose. I spread my investment in bitcon not for altcoin only.

I did invest close to $500 bucks for alt coins and I've got plenty of them for holding. ICN, KMD, LTC, Maidsafe, ETH and XMR. And as of now, I keep on investing into it as long as I've got something on my wallet, I'm not hesitating to invest and put my money into it especially when bitcoin is dropping so that I can have some other ways of earning not only with bitcoin>dollar trading.

Haha  Cheesy Fair enough, does seem dodgy I'll give you that. I only found this forum in the last week to be completely fair, usually hang around at reddit or on slack chats. And I'm not saying I made $100k out of $1000, that was another guy. I was just talking about general investment advice which applies to anything from crypto to stock to bonds. As for other coins, I'd say Nexus, Ardor (or Ignis) and IOTA have good value but in the very long run. Ripple of course, but that may not rise in price significantly. Currently, I'd say PIVX and Decred are quite undervalued for short term gains. ETH isn't going to the moon  Roll Eyes It'll cap out at $100 - $200 in the mid term, after that it's sketchy and depends heavily on upcoming business decisions.
