The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

I am trying to set up an MSI Z270 Krait Gaming mobo with 6 EVGA 1060 gpu's...  It will only recognize 5 of the 6 cards..  seems like the second from bottom slot does not show up..  anyone know of a solution for this on these Mobo's?  I enabled the 4G in the bios.. and that fixed the resource issues with 5 cards..  but I am still having problems getting the 6th card to show up..

I was planning to build 8 rigs with 45 cards total..  But if I can't get the 6th card up and running I will need to build 1 more system..  trying to avoid this if possible!

Thanks for your help!

when using 8 or more gpu rigs, do you split psus? Lets say I've 8 Rx 480, But my psu has only 6 gpu connectors. Each cable has two gpu plugs but one of plugs is 6pin. How do you handle this?

Yes but you can use 2 +750w which is alot cheaper than one big monster psu. They is if you run 8 RX470 4g

Yeah ... good luck running 8 GPU's on one motherboard.

I've Seen it, and it does work, with the MSI Z270 a-pro , soon you'll see 12 GPU's on one mother board.. Soon.

Fail to plan, and you plan to fail.

I take my words back. I now have several Z270 boards that run 8 cards. Also have ordered the Biostar 12 card board.

I currently have a MSI z270 SLI PLUS running 6 gtx 1060s just fine. I'm about to test the m.2 to pcie adapters. There is ZERO info on the net of anyone trying this on this exact mobo. The 270 A(or R?) will do it but the SLI PLUS is a big Huh

I should have info by sunday 9/3 and can put this to rest and offer an tips or tricks on how, if possible, i got it to work.
Since this is a TEST, I didn't order 2 more gpus just yet. I will run 4 gpus in pcie and 2 in the m.2 to pcie adapter just to get proof of concept.

I will post up any and all settings that anyone may be interested in as soon as i test and verify stability and other things.

Thanks,
Josh

*one thing i DO know is that you should NOT POWER THE M.2 ADAPTER AT ALL! This is because you are applying the power to the riser. You'll run into a burned up mobo if you power the m.2 adapter itself. Just a heads up!

UPDATE: No go. MSI Z270 SLI PLUS will NOT WORK w m.2 to pcie. Some other models like the A Pro are PROVEN to work but you'll notice differences in their BIOS when compared to the SLI PLUS. I knew this wouldn't work but i had to test it so others like myself would have a FOR SURE answer, not vague guesses.
I tried it every which way. The sli plus will not work with a m.2 to pcie adapter. Just get the h110 BTC+ and never look back. Now i'm stuck w 6 gpus. I could've bought the aformentioned mobo for LESS than the SLI PLUS lol. I feel dumb but, i have an answer and am willing to share the info. Hope i haved saved some headaches!

Has any one had any success with this type of motherboard and a adapter for 8 GPU?

hello there, I've not much expertise but this item

https://www.amazon.com/Extender-Bitcoin-Litecoin-Ubit-Adapter-Ethereum/dp/B073W9KCFC/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1521851957&sr=8-19&keywords=pci+riser

works very fine under simplemining resorces... can use at least two of them and you'll go 8 gpus... good luck
