Hard Fork, Soft Fork, It doesn't matter. Bitcoin is useful and accepted almost everywhere. People are buying Alts to make a profit ONLY and not for their usefulness in day-to-day transactions.

Bitcoin Block-size is NOT a problem. You can get a confirmation in less than 20 minutes for 30 cent fee. You pay $3 fee to get $20 out of an ATM! You can use 3rd party wallets for dust transactions if that's your thing.

Can't wait to see the jaws drop when the price hits $2000.

Bitcoin Unlimited is an Alt coin and nothing else. I'll speculate in it if there is a hard fork, but it's as good as Dogecoin to me.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I believe you're right. Alt speculators also do their pumps and dumps to generate more bitcoin.

ETH actually has more uses than bitcoin. Maybe RSK will change that - but for now ETH is more versatile.

But the problem is the branding mi amigo. We would be calling 2 cryptos by "bitcoin". After the fork let's hope that that BTU would be dumped.

Bitcoin is useful, but it's accepted almost nowhere because of concerns about price volatility, use in illegal activity, lack of knowledge from merchants and several other factors.

You're conflating soft forks with hard forks, current Bitcoin with future Bitcoin, and block size with scalability.  I didn't realise it was possible to do all of those things at once.

If it does, it won't be because people are using it as a currency.  It'll only be because people are stupidly using it to make profit.  The reason I say this is that it's obvious Bitcoin can't take double the amount of transactions that it's currently used for, considering it's been intermittently struggling even at this level.  You mention that alt coins are only traded for profit but that kind of extreme price rise in Bitcoin would be mainly triggered by desire for profit anyway (pumping as well, like altcoins but on a larger scale).

It's an altcoin, but it's definitely more than that since everyone who holds Bitcoin will hold BU coin and have the opportunity to use it.  It claims to contribute something to the network.  While it's not a very good solution, it's hardly reasonable to act like it doesn't add anything to Bitcoin - the only reason it exists is to add something to Bitcoin.

You clearly don't know how a hard fork works. It's not just an alt-coin. It takes the place of the other chain.

But ETH got fucked with DAO thing, how can anybody forget this fuck up? I don't understand how can anybody trust those incompetent coder wreckings over bitcoin core devs who succeeded bitcoin till now without a single hack event. Same goes for instamine freak DASH.

They are pumping those altcoins to create fake hype over people so they can steal your precious bitcoins. When all this over, you will be left with useless shitcoins in your hand and they'll be having your bitcoins. Don't join their scam.

SAY NO TO SHITCOINS.

i don't know or particularly care whether ethereum has sorted its shit out. maybe it has and it's now great.

principles and diligence goes out the window if people smell money. it doesn't matter what anything's history is. people want fast gains with no effort. they always will and others will always be there to feed people that, until they decide it's gone far enough for now.

DASH is a weird instamine, but I wouldn't call ETH a shitcoin.  It's not going to do better than Bitcoin, because it's not as decentralised or clever as Bitcoin is (plus the strangely high supply), but it's not an absolute copy and it is original.

Its original because its a platform with smart contracts. Bitcoin is not for big companies but for world adoption in storing value. As long as bitcoin goes up it has a great future. We dont even need to scale. We reached a new ATH this month without scaling. But then some screems that we need to scale and BU appears and than the old fud song occured once more. If you believe in bitcoin like i do you hodl.
