People have been saying for a while that buying porn with bitcoins would make sense, because of the anonymity. It looks like this is quickly beginning to happen.

Last week MetArt began accepting
[NSFW]  http://www.metartnetwork.com/bitcoin/

And in result of that, this week FreeOnes is now accepting.
[NSFW]  http://my.freeones.com/cgi-bin/mainpage.cgi

Both are fairly large porn sites, and it looks like many others plan to follow.

I found this reddit thread interesting, which was made by a staff member at FreeOnes
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1cv0vu/ok_we_gave_in_too_you_can_now_buy_myfreeones/

One question was asked:

Quote
I always figured that the monthly charges were a big part of how porn sites got revenue, from people who would forget about the charge until the next month. Is this not true/how are you dealing with auto-renewals?

Which the guy from FreeOnes responded:

Quote
I would say that's one of the biggest myths in adult. People actually do care about their cc statements specially the last few years with the economy being so bad and people being more aware of their sendings.
Of course you have people forgetting to cancel but that's not what most revenue is coming from.

I think we could be seeing a lot more of this in the near future, now that some big names have taken the step.

The problem could be access + paying for porn from minors if you only need an email address and a couple of bitcoins. Not that I believe minors pay for porn anyway, but it could be an issue for the company.

That would be terrible! Don't let those kids see how humans reproduce!

Instead, let's just show them how to kill each others in violent movies!

Wow, that first link to Metartsites is kind of a hidden page? The charge for monthly access there is half of what is displayed on the regular sites. That's unfair if you're not aware of it.

I find this interesting because I've looked for a way to offer some adult content, but the processors impose ridiculous fees and requirementes alleging chargeback risk and Visa/MC compliance.

Resistance is simply futile for the gambling & porn industries.

Bitcoin will take them both completely over within a year or two, bar none.... Autonomy is just too big of an advantage for them to pass up for long.

One thing to realize is there are a lot of people into kinky fetish stuff, which they don't want anyone, even their spouse, knowing about.

Niche, fetish sites taking bitcoin could pave the way for more mainstream sites to take it up.

Tragically it will all lead to children being abused once them Catholic priests, corrupt politicians and figures of authority catch up.

Porn is usually the lead in adapting new technologies..got to love their ingenuity.

I work in the adult industry and I have to respectfully disagree with this statement (at least when it comes to the internet porn industry). Many adult websites and adult companies have closed up shop because they refused to adapt to changing technology and the internet.

However, there's been a lot of talk about bitcoins on the adult industry forums lately and there are a lot of us who are promoting the benefits of adding the option to pay using bitcoins on adult membership sites.
