Yep, I've had no issue getting video through them.  I use the USB risers exclusively.

I've always had one card attached with a 16x to 16x ribbon and I'll use that card for video display. It is possible to get the video display from a gpu that's on a 1x USB riser?

Yes, it even works for streaming video while mining in the background. Make sure you get the powered ones, the older ribbon style are more problematic and not worth using imo. Smiley
