Do retailers accept altcoins?

Sorry if this is a silly question to ask, but I can't help myself.

Does anyone know of retailers that accept alts?

I've seen some say altcoins have "rapidly growing user bases".

My first thought is, how can altcoins have "rapidly growing user bases", if there's nothing to use them for?

This must mean there are retailers that accept them, or some purpose they can fulfill?

Its hard for something to have a user base, if there's nothing they can be used for?

I don't know any retailer that accepts altcoins. I think you have fuly right when you are asking what the altcoins could be used for except for trading. That is their main hendicep comparing to Bitcoin, they are hard to use in real life for real things like Bitcoin and that is the reason why no altcoin is serious competence and threath to Bitcoin. Except that Monero could be used for payments in Darknet.

i don't know if there is any retailers that accepting altcoin as their payment because as far as i know, the retailers is only accepting bitcoin for payment and i don't think that they will know about altcoin. but if in future when many people know much about altcoins and they can convert from altcoin into btc, then i am sure that retailers will use altcoin too for the payments.

Altcoins are always announced that they are "accepted by merchants", "traded on top cryptocurrency exchanges" and "supported by a wide range of services".
The reality is that: you won't buy anything with 99.9% altcoins, the only exchange where you can trade is Yobit and by wide services acceptance 
- altcoin creators meant that there is a wallet supporting their coin or maybe something like block explorer, that is basically it.

Beside Bitcoin the most accepting altcoins in real world are Litecoin and Dogecoin.

I think about 40 alts are enabled. It will be interesting to see whether these alt communities actually start using alts to buy stuff.

Very few of them do accept altcoins but of course there is a lot to be done. let's hope this will change soon!
