RX 480 4gb  and RX 470 8 GB, both cards with 7000 Mhz or Lower speed are competitive in price at the moment.

With 470 8gb being about 5% more expensive at times.

So the question is which one of them is a better option for a new GPU mining rig?

This is for mining both now & in the future.

Any opinion appreciated!

From my experience it doesn't matter as long as they have samsung or micron memory.

I am here since 2011, I know how to use the search button.

I started this topic to trade opinions with other users as what is the best solution ATM.

I would like to hear all opinions...

I suggest 4GB too.
8GB usually just +10% performance but +20% higher price. if you can buy 8GB in 4GB price worth it, if no not.
(longern term you can sell 8GB cards at higher place)

but this is just my opinion

From my experience it doesn't matter as long as they have samsung or micron memory.

Samsung is easy to flash and can mine approx 8GB speed. (28-29 Mh ETH) You right
My 4GB without flashing just hashing (22 Mh)
with flash , -10 voltage approx 27-28Mh (i can get 28-29 but, eat more power. i reduced it)

Alot of opinions have been said about this, if you want to buy 8gb then better 480, if you want 4gb then 470 , 8gb will have longterm mining ability and resell value, 4gb is faster roi but in future i don't think 4gb will be enough for mining in longterm.
