Just documenting the start of a new era of BitcoinPenny artwork. If the artwork going forward is not done in the same style, with the same pen, etc., as the those that came before it we're witnessing the end of the "first era" of BitcoinPenny art. All the work that comes before the Leaning Tower of Pisa piece just went up in value!

And the Leaning Tower of Pisa piece probably has its own unique value given that it's "a test" and the first image of the new era.

And one that didn't start out as an official doodle, but I thought that I'd include it with the FOS doodles anyway. It was simply done to test and compare a new black doodle pen to my old standard black doodle pen.

Chris

Just perused your website, I'm new to the Bitcoin schwag scene.

What's the difference between the regular and the S. Nakamato coins? How do I know the difference?

Thanks.

Awesome, great to hear and welcome!  Smiley

The S. Nakamoto coins display the initials "SN" under the date of mintage "2017". This year, the regular coins display the word "IRIE", which is roughly translated: "To be at total peace with your current state of being. The way you feel when you have no worries." Each year the regular coins vary, anyone has the opportunity to put their own name (or any initials they want) on the coin, for example, last year the regular coins had "DAVE", based on whoever wins the auction.

When you purchase a BPxFoS classic roll, you get 37 regular coins and 3 SNs!

Great, two more questions,

(1) What language is "IRIE" in?

(2) What auction allow us the opportunity to get our name or initials on a future coin?

Thanks!

Thanks for asking, HabBear! Smiley

Our standard mint coins have "IRIE" printed on the front below the date, and they have "MINTED IN USA" printed on the reverse side at the bottom. We minted 2,000+ of these coins.

Our special mint coins have "SN" printed (in script) on the front below the date, and they have "S. Nakamoto" printed (in script) on the reverse side at the bottom. We minted these coins in limited quantities, and the only way to get one (besides the secondary market) is to purchase one of our Short Rolls, Classic Rolls, or Special Edition Rolls.

Short Roll (20 Coins) = 19 IRIE + 1 SN.
Classic Roll (40 Coins) = 37 IRIE + 3 SN.
Special Edition Roll (40 Coins) = 40 SN.

We like to include a few special mint coins inside our Short Rolls and Classic Rolls as a fun nod to the hobby of coin roll hunting. That's where a coin collector buys a roll of common coins (like pennies, quarters, or half-dollars), cracks it open, then hunts inside while hoping to discover a special, rare coin. It's a pretty fun and inexpensive hobby, and we thought that we'd bring a touch of that fun to our own rolls. Wink

I hope that explains it. If not, then please feel free to ask more questions. We like questions. Smiley

Chris @ The Bitcoin Penny Co.

(1) I believe IRIE is a common greeting in Jamaica. And at greenplastic's house. Wink

(2) Every year, in late winter or early spring, before we release our new coins, we hold an auction for the initials on our standard mint coins. (You can find a link to our 2017 auction below.) We'll hold another auction in early 2018.

[AUCTION] The NEW 2017 Bitcoin Penny™ has YOUR NAME on it!

I have been to Jamaica and IRIE basically means, "alright" ... or, as urban dictionary would say - Everyting is irie mon

Cheers! Smiley
