for this to take off we need to get someone to add this coin to an exchange like vircurex or btc-e and then have this coin added to dustcoin.com or coinchoose.com so people can see its profitability.
Good idea with dustcoin. I posted in the official dustcoin topic here asking for Feathercoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=146675.120 (others please let your voice be heard!)PPCoin took over half a year from it's release to get onto btc-e so I am thinking Vircurex is a more realistic goal for us to campaign towards imo. The best thing we can do for now is to keep growing the network hashrate and prove this coin has solid, stable support that is in it for the long haul. And keep up with these projects.

Thanks to Psybits for coordinating these efforts. Many of us come from the IT world, it's in our nature to constantly compare technical features. I feel the real worth behind Feathercoin is the people such as Psybits and the developers working hard to bringing services to the market. It's the services that will excite people into long-term adoption. My point of this thread was anyone can do ** something ** to push it forward. Maybe you give out free coins, maybe you help someone get into cryptl, maybe you create a useful webpage, maybe you have a feathercoin bumper sticker.. I don't know. As a community, that's up to you to decide.

I've outlined a complete Meetup group strategy in another post. Please take a look and feedback. I'm okay with doing the bulk of the work, I would like community input. Imagine group of people all around the country working on coordinated efforts to push the coin forward. I've done it before, I'm willing to volunteer time to do it again.

Why dump so much work into feather when the next scrypt based coin that comes out with actual features will overshadow it?
By which point Feathercoin will have too much traction and the coins will be too widely dispersed amongst too many people. Look at Terracoin, basically a Bitcoin clone and it's worth 50-60 cents because a bunch of people gave it value. Plus with Feathercoin, it's an option for Litecoin miners to head over to if they fancy making more coins from their rigs rather than 2 coins a day or whatever... The current prices people are paying for FC are interesting if you understand the current network difficulty of LTC vs. FC and compare the utility of the two, as well as taking into consideration how many more FC will be in circulation in the coming months given that utility. LTC is ~ 0.02 of 1.00 BTC on major exchanges - I can do a whole lot more with LTC than I can with FC. In am month a lot of people will want to get rid of FC. I applaud the almost exact copy of LTC for the mining work.

BTW a true currency wouldnt need to have a stupid thread like this. The community would set it upon themselves to push it. By pushing for articles or word of mouth ur just looking desperate. Oh and Id love to know how many coins the founders premined!

30 Day Challenge - Feathercoin Development
I'd really like to see the community chime in here with their amazing ideas. Here's the question:
Over the next 30 days, what are ** YOU ** going to do help push Feathercoin forward?
It would be great to get a listing and then progress updates from each of you!
Wow, so much energy! I like the way u promote the coin, good luck!

It's nice to have a thread with useful info on the development of a new coin. The coin was announced here on the forum, network hashrate was very very low. There was no premine. Difficulty it's still very low compared to other altcoins, so any new miner can join and get a good amount of coins without huge mining rigs. Good luck to feathercoin, litecoin and others altcurrencies !

Thank you for your contribution to the 30 day thread. Your objection is noted and won't expect any type of updates from you regarding Feathercoin adoption progress. Good luck in the coin you support and hope all is wonderful.

Oh and Id love to know how many coins the founders premined! Would you pay me a bounty if I show you how big the premine was, with links to the block explorer to document the facts I provide? If so, how much?

No premine - in fact the dev bought more coins a few days in so he could fund more bounties to help FC even more. You have no idea what you're talking about (which has been pretty apparent the whole time actually). Still - you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink - I've been here for a while and I know a winner when I see one. FC is a great alt coin for a number of reasons - I'll let you try and work it out for yourself.

Anyone want to help live627? Smiley If anyone wants to help me, please PM. I only need help setting up feathercoind on Linux shared server. And compiling it. I wrote a guide to install / build from source Devcoin on Ubuntu here http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=install_devcoin_ubuntu maybe that helps? Will the compiled code work on other distros? Time to set up a VM!

I realize I am an extremely small fish in the feather pond (with a little over 200 FCs), but here's my two cents...
If you guys are dreaming of a future where Feather Coins are in the mainstream; then you have to change the name (I don't know whether its possible). The initial hype and adoption has been amazing; but I simply can't see the general public spending 'FeatherCoins'. Hell, even when I first read I thought it was another joke coin, like BBQs. It has to be some single word, like 'Escudo' and not something like, say, IntraPay (which sounds like a payment facility). Even FCs sound cooler.
I know there is a lot of debate going on of FCs vs LTCs, about why the value is not right and all; but at the end of the day the coin with the better 'packaging' will win. IMO, in the future BTCs will be like super precious investments while one currency will be used for the general transactions; with other currencies being merely traded against it. Right now, LTC seems to be that candidate, but its not set in stone, and FCs, or something else in the future may become that one.
Thing is all those stuff 'ASIC resistant' '4x coins' etc won't really matter. The Coin which is easily accessible, usable and looks professional will be the winner. Its a shame, but in the world we live in 'form' and 'content' are both equally important.
I would prefer the next coin to become the main coin; mainly because my graphics card died (while playing ME3, of all things) and I missed the boat. I certainly wouldn't relish telling my grandchildren the story 'I was there when it started - it was called Feather Coins back then; and I watched it take off like a VTOL aircraft while I was clutching my fried Radeon'.
As I said, this is purely my opinion - feel free to carry on. Its just that I see a lot of effort from the community and it seems to me some basics are being ignored.
EDIT: Moved into this thread as I think its more relevant here.
