Hey guys just built a rig as i've been wanting one for a while.

I've got 1 7970 currently (gigabyte ghz edition) clocked @1200 core 1500 mem and i'm only getting 665m hashes?

Can anyone help me out here? I'm using 50miner (cgminer) currently with default settings

thanks!

I had a 7970 for a day, trying to get it to work. No matter what I tried, I could not get it above 600 khs (scrypt for LTC). So you're already doing better than I managed. I'm wondering if it's a motherboard or software or some other thing. There are a lot of settings on cgminer to tweak, so if you've only tried default so far... give it a try. There are guides around for tweaking it. I was doing scrypt and read the script-readme in the cgminer distribution. There are some good threads here for optimizing, too.

The gigahertz edition is not too hot. I've had great luck with the Sapphire 3gb OC version.

But your other big issue is that Core Clock/Mem Clock should be ~0.70 or LESS.  You have 0.8

I'm using 1070/1500 which is 0.713

@ Intensity - i'm not sure what intensity is.. i believe 7? That's what I: is in CGminer?

@ Ratio, i put my clocks at 1200/1650 and that hasnt changed a thing

Cop some 7950's.

I bought about 6 a month or two ago.

Probably I haven't tweaked my miner completely right yet but I get over 550kh/s for each card.

The hash rate per $ is just as good (or better) as 7970.

Sorry , forgot to mention that was for litecoin, not bitcoin.

What cgminer switches are you using?  I've found setting vectors to 1 gets me better rates on my 7970 as well.

-v 1 -g 2 -w 256 -I 6 will get me about 660MH/s when overclocked to 1100Mhz core and 950Mhz clock.  The clock settings are pretty irrelevant, but lower it can help with power consumption.

I'm gonna be switching to litecoins but i'd like to know what the best settings would be for me to mine the most?

Right now with
1100 Core
1500 Clock

I'm running 650 Kh/s

Quote
worksize 256
vectors 1
aggression 20
threads_per_gpu 1
sharethreads 32
lookup_gap 2
gpu_thread_concurrency 24000

That's my current litecoin.conf in reaper as well.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have a 7970 and I got it up to ~720Kh/s.

I did a lot of tweaking but you can try this:

That's what worked for me.

Exactly same settings here for me with the same hash rate.

Cause some of your numbers are really off. 650 isn't acceptable for a $450 dollar card. You can spend almost 200 less on a 7950 and get 650. I am guessing it is just a wrong setting. Even my nasty old 6850 is pulling 260 and its only reported for a little over 200.

Mind giving me your batch file you use to start? or the line? As we have the same cards essentially lol..
thanks

I will look for it.

It probably won't work on your system.

After a lot of testing I found that the same settings will not work on a different machine.

Too many variables to account for.

Essentially what you want to do is just set shaders and 2 threads with cgminer using the command line like so cgminer --scrypt --shaders (shaders your card has) -g 2 -I 13

Then once cgminer is running press G > C and take note of your engine/memory speed.

Then press M and it should show your maximum memory speed at 1575 or something similar.

You want to increase memory pretty much until cgminer crashes.

Then start it back up with about 100 less.

Once you got it stable with memory clock you will want to adjust engine speed in small increments, maybe 5mhz at a time in either direction.

Eventually you will to a point where your hash rate is steady.

Once your hash rate is stable you can then divide your engine speed by memory speed and that is your golden ratio.

Then you can OC from there using your ratio and it will be pretty good.

before/after doing this im getting 20 KH/s -.- What the hell? is this thing using anything?

EDIT:
OK, for some reason the intesity didn't change but i got it now. Now with 13 intensity im running 594kh/s - which is WAY too low, what's going on ?

You probably need to restart the machine you are on.

Also check to make sure you don't have a cgminer.conf file in your cgminer directory.

Did you set the proper shader count for your card?

I have a 2 x 7970 (Gigabyte) rig running right now on Ubuntu 12.10 running the ATI 13.3 Beta drivers. I tried the stable release but the cards wouldn't pull more than 650 MH/s combined and the fan speeds were reading inaccurately. Once I updated the driver to the beta release they both started getting somewhere between 650-680 MH/s each so I am getting about 1.35 GH/s right now. They are over clocked at 1100,1050 (GPU 0,1) 1375 Mem clock. Intensity 9, Powertune 20. Set the fan speeds to keep the cards around 78.0C consistently. I think you would have to liquid cool them to push them any harder but I could be wrong. I added another chassis fan that pulls heat from the cards outside the box as well.

ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard
AMD 8-Core AM3+ processor (3.4Ghz)
8GB DDR3 RAM
2 x 7970 Gigabyte Radeon cards
850W Modular PSU

Happy Mining.

Did you set the proper shader count for your card?

Intensity 13
memory clock at 1500
Engine clock at 1100
Powertune 0%
ACtivitiy 61%

pushing 580kh/s

What's wrong here that im only using 61% and how can i make it push more?
