That's true indeed. I have one super old bitcoin address where I am still collecting some referral commission and I didnt really care last couple of months, but a few weeks ago I checked that address and I find out there is $34, so I wanted to withdraw them but blockchain suggested $14 transaction fee and I wasn't willing to pay that...
but there is one trick what you can do, simply send all your funds to a different address (yours) with a really low fee to electrum wallet, electrum will allow you to spent unconfirmed funds, so you can resend all your funds to another your wallet with a little bit higher transaction fee. Once this latest will be confirmed, all your previous transaction will be confirmed as well. It saved me around 13 usd...
