I figured the Winkelvoss announcement equaled "peak bitcoin" for a while.

Let's get Michael Douglas to do it.

Ask not what Bitcoin can do for you - ask what you can do for Bitcoin.

His Grade-A investments invested in BitPay.  The giving away of Bitcoins on Twitter may have been true, but I think more likly to be a reference back to this post on the forum in early March:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=149132.0

I think the celebs to go after are the big environmental/climate change supporters.  Dicaprio and Pitt come immediately to mind - but there are plenty.

Bitcoin is so easy on the environment compared to gold, or even paper fiat, that it's a pretty obvious direction to take.  And blood diamonds are only a reflection of the gold-mining industry in most parts of the world.

Of course, the reason this isn't actively pursued is political, and clear.  Missed opportunities.  Pity...

I have some emails out though.

Dankedan: price seems low, time to sell I think...

Yes, althought it is The Machinery of Freedom. And he is also the son of Milton Friedman.

What, if any, effect would the endorsement of a major hollywood celebrity have on the USD / BTC exchange?

Who's going to be the first rapper to sport an enormous blinged-out BTC medallion on his gold chain?  Feels like this should be coming along any day now...

Milton Friedman was in favor even before Bitcoin existed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2mdYX1nF_Y

"The one thing that's missing, but that will soon be developed, it's a reliable e-cash. A method where buying on the internet you can transfer funds from A to B, without A knowing B or B knowing A. The way in wich I can take a 20 dollar bill and hand it over to you and there's no record of where it came from. And you may get that without knowing who I am. That kind of thing will develop on the Internet."

It's the future.  Wink

Don't forget the two episodes of "The Good Wife" that featured Bitcoin.
