I live in Canada and 2 of my friends want to build a 7 GPU mining rig with me like this one: https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/11404/msi-z170-7-gpu-bios-setting-step-by-step

I am looking to get ~20-25 RX 480s and I am wondering where can I get such a large amount of GPUs since most stores only limit it to a few per person.

how much budget are you? i can offer some GPUs from my local wholesale. or did you use www.newegg.com (they accept bitcoin)?
i can help you purchase if you want, but you might expect up to CAD$320 per card (shipping included), 8GB. you will have to go first as i don't get any bitcoin which allows me to use escrow, up to you. Huh

out of ability to use the signature, i want a new ban strike policy that will fade the strike after 90~120 days of the ban and not to be traced back, like google | email me for anything urgent, message will possibly not be instantly responded
i am not really active for some reason

I find that getting in contacting your local computerstore and asking for an offer on 20cards can get you Greatdeals aswell. Maybe you tried that already.

It is going to be hard.

Manufacturers will be phasing out the rx 470/480 and focus on releasing the 570/580 series instead.

Don't know if the 4xx series will be phased out completely.

I called a few places in Edmonton, even in cities near by and take the shipping charge, and only one store in Toronto was willing to give me a deal. Unfortunately, it still came more expensive than buying locally at full cost.

I was hoping that the 480s go on sale while the 500 series takes over, but I don't know if that will be possible now.

So after the RX5xx is out, the 4xx will be much cheaper?

That's what I was hoping for!  Grin

I'm open to 470s, do they need to be 8GB vs 4GB? I know the 8GB pulls a bit more power from the wall but if the difference is only a few MH/s and Id rather save some $ on the hardware. I've seen the 8GB reach 31 MH/s while the 4GB max out at 27-28MH/s

Many these big stores have business dept, you can contact with them directly. Also try to find some online only stores (such as http://www.pc-canada.com/, or https://www.directcanada.com/ and a few others), they are not that well-known but I believe they associate with big distributors somehow and may just do drop-shipping, so great deals sometimes. When I was spending a few thousands with one of them before, I negotiated a free shipping (quite bulky stuff) and extra $100 coupon. Only problem is whether they could get a good price from the big distributors, if there is a reasonable profit, you get big chance to make a deal.

BTW, register with https://www.greatcanadianrebates.ca/ may give you extra 1~2% off (for newegg at least).

hope this helps.

I will attempt to build this 7 GPU rig once I'm done exams at the end of April, however if 7 is not possible, 6 will have to do and there's many confirmed builds of 6 GPU systems

Don't know if the 4xx series will be phased out completely.

There will be no more 400 series as 500 is a refresh and replacement of all models.   Its very similar and mostly being done just to allow cheaper production costs for AMD, eventually customers see some benefits but for now its only slightly faster at stock clocks.

So after the RX5xx is out, the 4xx will be much cheaper?

No 480 or similar will be no cheaper as its essentially the same card.   Maybe you can save 10 dollars here or there but I dont think we are talking much.  Nobody will switch from 480 to 580 for example as there is no advantage.
We've already seen some offers for 480 at times and that is all the effect possible really.     So far all I've seen people comment is that the 580 is more expensive, but the 480 is no cheaper because of that.  580 will match Vega price on release I think, as you can double them up its possibly a rival in performance so they will not make 580 that cheap these few months.
If 580 is no cheaper then 480 not cheaper either, imo second hand prices stay high due to miners filling any demand gap

you wont get much discount unless you wanted 100+ cards probably.

try shopbot.ca its quite good at comparing most (not all though, it doesnt pick up canadacomputers usually) online retailer prices.

IMO, canadacomputers often has good deals and/or 10% openbox discounts. I got 8gb-rx480 msi gaming-x cards for $299/ea (+tax) just a few weeks ago there

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461
No longer a wannabe - now an ASIC owner!
