Is creating multiple threads allowed?

A user has created 6-7 threads back to back for selling his domains in digital goods section.
While all his threads are for different domains so technically his is not creating multiple threads yet I feel he could have created just one single thread and list all his domains in one place.

Regardless of bitcointalk rules, I think this a bad plan from a commercial perspective. It's far better to list all your names for sale on a site, and link to it in your signature. If you don't have hosting, then you can use Google spreadsheets, and link to that. I've done this, and it's an effective way to have a dynamic listing facility.

Of course it is, if you happen to be selling 2 or more different products why would you put them all in one thread?

Selling two different products like Fruits and Pajamas is understood if put into two different threads.But if you're selling Mango and Apples,you don't need to make a new thread for each.If I'm not wrong,in the mentioned accounts case,he is selling Different types of mangoes in 10 different threads.

This is when things get tricky, because "reasonably similar" is different from person to person. You could say that they were all domains and they should be 1 thread, or you could say they were different domains that were unrelated to each other so they should be listed separate.

I don't think it's particularly great to see several domain threads all by the same user. If someone is interested in buying domains, they'll check out a master domain thread.

Even in the case where it's something like selling 4 domains with "Bitcoin" as a prefix and the other two "Money" as a prefix, they should be bundled together. Domains are domains. The user may not get as much advertisement, but that shouldn't really be the most important thing: allowing other threads to stay on the FP with equal opportunity would be better.

If they are fundamentally different,it is better to have them in seperate threads so they get more attention,rather than just bulk selling in one.If they are somewhat similar-aka they are related to the same subject,it's much better if they are just stacked in one topic.It's hard to set rules on such things because they can always be interpreted in a way much different than what the rule says

Considering how many people referenced my thread, I'm still baffled as to why nobody looked at the rule's explantation/example (that's what the _[e] beside the rule means):

Seems pretty clear cut to me: those domains should be sold in one thread. Report those threads and it should be handled (putting a link to this post for explanation would probably help as well).

If you are referring to the fact that should people wish, they are able to create alternate accounts, then yes. It is possible then to use those accounts to create multiple threads for each of your domains, though it will be a hassle, taking too much time and effort, also being incredibly conspicuous. The whole reason for creating multiple accounts would be to put many domains on offer at the same time, though it would arouse suspicion if a large number of newbie accounts were to begin creating threads for domains.

It is also probable that should one account be detected as being an alt, the user would face the risk of a ban, which would result in the banning of all the other accounts (lest you use proxies which would take a lot of effort). The rules apply to individuals, not accounts (AFAIK, since there was a precedent when an individual used multiple accounts to bump a thread, which violated the rules) and hence if this behavior is noticed, then the person would be banned.


The rule is fine. It prevents clutter and allows for equal advertising opportunity.
