Batpool has joined the game. Segwit will be around 70% now. This means once Batpool's hashing power peaks we'll be sailing around 5% more to go only for segwit activation. At that point, smaller pools should join in. Network effect too strong. Only 5 points remaining is pretty much a done deal. How high it will go? Only one way to find out.
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I don't know what your source is showing 61% while this: http://litecoinblockhalf.com/segwit.php shows 68%
Either way, Op is totally right, with SegWit activated (even thought LTC didn't need it as bad as BTC needs it) effect on price will be huge.
It might be the biggest upward trend in the LTC history or... nothing will happen when people will realize that it is 'only' LTC.

Yes buy at the high and then sell at a loss. The investors here are amazing.

I Agree. Too risky price at now as for me. Must be necessary to wait for more secure levels. Especially because of be a margin coin more attention needed.

If you do not take the risk you do not get a good income, because if you do trading you must take risk by buying alt coin but it only lessen if you learn about the coin to be buy. If you see that you will gain income just buy it and do not hesitate because if the price would continue to increase you missed the opportunity to earn income.

I don't think this will pump like some scam coins, but this is something good for the cryptocurrency. At least this will not be dumped quickly and fall into oblivion.

That link i was looking at was just showing ......

Segwit miner support (percentage of segwit blocks signaling within the current activation period)   1629 (62.01%)

I think?

Litecoin is getting a segwit activation signal. This probably takes the price and growth of litecoin as well other altcoins towards the next level. Buying now could help grab the profit once after activation as the segwit support is getting stronger and has crossed the range of 60%

Yes, I think it has been pumped already at a state that it is too much risky to buy at such a high value, so I'd wait for it to settle back to its previous normal value or at least close to it before buying.

Indeed, OP's suggestion is much like saying you should buy Dash right now.  People on this forum do so love buying high and then losing their boxers.  And then they start threads whining about it.

The lower one is counting all blocks since 5 days ago. The more accurate higher one is counting in the last 24 hours, which is the requirement for activation threshold.

What you are saying is no risk no reward what I am saying is you don't fucking buy after the rise. Don't be stupid if it does rise more great you'll hold too long and dump at a loss anyways with your attitude.

The rise hasn't even begun. After we break $10, we are headed to $30, then $50.

A chart communicates better than a 1000 words.

Bitcoin will never get SegWit and Lightning Networks scaling. Never.

Litecoin is reaching its destiny. You can be part of it, or sit on the sidelines and be butthurt.

Hashrate went up 30% but the price up 125%. I told you already that ASIC supply is constrained. Mom and pop miners are making a killing right now on LTC, if they signal SegWit and sustain the price rise to $50 due to the exclusive on scaling that Litecoin will have and Bitcoin will NEVER get.

I am very very skeptical i think hardware makers control a lot of supply of Litecoin and they can move/manipulate market by pumping Litecoin they know they can move Litecoin on one exchange by buying $100k worth of to create artificial constraint. Once they move the price by few bucks it has momentum and the community and speculators take over after that all they have to do is switch on hashing power mint more litecoin to bring there average cost per litecoin down and at the same time make a killing selling all the hardware @ $2000 a pop. once enough sales of hardware accomplished they can dump coin and release hardware.

the reason they do major release like available date of April 24th is so they can maximize there sales. where 1000s of l3 or A4 are sold and you have no idea how much hash is hitting the network because if you did you would know that you would not recover your initial investment in 6 months, as the difficulty spikes. Only Hope for Miners to recoup investment cost is to hope and pray that price per coin keeps rising.

enough rambling for tonight... time for sleep. GN>

I've wondered (and asked) before why Litecoin would need SegWit, but never got an answer. For Bitcoin I get it: blocks are full, and transactions are slow and expensive. Current blocks have reached their limit.
Litecoin doesn't have any of these problems.

I've only found this on Reddit:
Quote
And segwit opens the door to the Lightning Network + a ton of devs building on top of it. Pretty huge.

Litecoin doesn't have any of these problems.

Because:

Bitcoin will never get SegWit and Lightning Networks scaling. Never.

And thus Litecoin will get all the volume that Bitcoin will lose because fees on Bitcoin will go too high for us to use it.

Bitcoin is for settlement amongst power brokers who will have no problem spending $100 per transaction fee. The small blocks on Bitcoin will get full with $100 transaction fee transactions. You won't be able to transact on Bitcoin any more. I think that is big fucking deal. Don't you  Huh

Litecoin can not scale without SegWit and Lightning Networks.

Don't get me wrong it might reach $12 but I'm not throwing my money in now but $50 nah, too many willing to dump and get out of what has been stagnant for years.

Don't be butthurt when LTC reaches $100, because suddenly Litecoin is relevant again and Blockstream is developing for Litecoin instead of Bitcoin. Your universe will be turned upside down.

Please do make your own decisions. Don't listen to me other than to make sure you understand my reasons.
