It is obvious that he supports SegWit. My feeling is if Litecoin can turn on SegWit, and become tech advanced, this will persuade BU supporters. He also has his influence among Chinese people to get job done.

So basically, Gregory Maxwell reverse engineered a Bitmain ASIC chip and proved that there is an asicboost exploit implemented that makes them more efficient than other asics.
Bitmain is possibly breaking patent law on asicboost.
Segwit is not compatible with with this boost so Bitmain/Jihan and his customers (Chinese miners) will lose out economically if we get segwit.

Not that I'm refuting anything, but if the reverse engineering were truly successful, shouldn't it also be able to easily incorporate tech that would be (backward?) compatible with Segwit? And if not, that can't be the real reason they're against Segwit. Surely it's only a matter of time to adjust or bring compatibility. That rationale at best only brings extreme short-term profit before the ASIC boost is nullified by other tech.

Well I really hoped that Charlie Lee can convince the miners especially the BU supporters to unify and join under the segwit code. If  this will happen then we do not have any fear anymore of bitcoin split and its possible impacts on the price and trust of the holders. If he is successful then we will not worry anymore and expect another skyrocket of bitcoins price this year.

Why would you trust Charlie Lee, his brother is a big segwit supporter, Charlie also a Big Segwit Supporter.

Therefore since Charlie is a Smart Guy, and both he & I know the above statement is false, a Liar is all that remains.

Why is it a Lie, Simple:

If Bitcoin Unlimited ever attains higher than 51% for a continued length of time, say a week or two with Blocks higher than 1mb,
all they have to do is release 1 Update to BTU Unlimited that includes a NEW Hard Coded Checkpoint.
With this new hard coded checkpoint, No blocks can ever be rewritten before that block, meaning
ANY BLOCKCHAIN REWRITES BEFORE THAT CHECKPOINT BLOCK ARE NO LONGER POSSIBLE!!!

Bitcoin, Litecoin & many alts use hard coded checkpoints to prevent history attacks.

The real question ,
all of you need to ask yourselves is why do all of these smart guys keeping telling lies trying to trick you into supporting deadwit and hurt alternatives such as BTU or a lower block speed plan to fix the transaction capacity issue.

I believe it is purely greed on their parts , a promised payout from blockstream.
However if anyone has any evidence that family members have been kidnapped and that is why these people are being forced to lie, please contact the local authorities so we can free their family members so these guys can quit lying, because they are getting on my last nerve, with their Falsehoods.  

FYI:
BTU has said they would not start 2mb blocks until ~75%,
but the truth is they could do it at anywhere from 55% to 65% and have no worries about BTC coreheads being able to match their mining %.
Release 1 block over 1mb , and release a hard coded check point that same day.
By the way since BTU has the majority of mining they will be Bitcoin , not another name.
The 30% or so that is left would be the minority on their left behind fork and not BTC, as they would become WitPal (the coin for Offchain Nitwits).

Charlie is implementing Segwit in Litecoin (with 75% threshold). Let's see how it goes. It is goes smoothly, perhaps Core should also consider lowering the threshold (to 75%)?

Rumors are that these miners are using ASICS which infringe patents for faster mining that are not compatible with segwit. They are afraid of losing a chunk of their mining power.

The way I see it i think the movement right now is getting to be on the side of SegWit not because it is perfect but because of the fear of the BU alternative. I also wish that soon the whole Bitcoin community can move forward from this raging debate and concentrate more on making Bitcoin the best cryptocurrency there is which can result into more value for the currency. People behind Bitcoin should learn to unite and come up with one stand and common solutions to the Bitcoin technological challenges still hanging around under its neck.

After some more reading, I think this is over optimistic.
The only positive outcome is, activation of SegWit for LTC might, just might finally change situation for BTC.
