Hello Guys,

I hope some one can help with my isse,

I just bought a brand new Asus rx 480 strix 8 gb, im new into the farming field, iwas testing it on Ethereum mining with a result of 22M/H, iv downloaded the bios update from the official website and thought this gonna improve my card mining quality but since i updated the new rom the max hash i get is only 4 or 5 MH.
unfortunately i forgot to make a backup of the original ROM (NOOOOB as i mentioned) Smiley
iv tried to flash other rom versions online but with no luck.

can any one plz provide me the original ROM, or suggest another solution.

next time ask before you flash.

that card can do 27 without a flash

so if yours was doing 22  without a flash  you had an issue of some kind

I have six of them at stock settings doing about 25.6

I also wish I could help  but I am not a flash wiz  there are people on site that are good.

maybe someone would post an answer.

One issue with flashing is the same make and model  can be different  with ram and bios  so flashing is hard to do.

I simply avoid flashing and just use simple mining  for my amd's.

No fuss no muss.

Yess, this hash rate is pretty normal.
You can try to increase the memory frequency to improve your results and also underovlt a little bit to reduce power usage.

Since you are pretty familiar with bios flash right now, you can also try to modify the bios yourself with polarisbioseditor and lower the timings. It's pretty simple and you will find guides or even videos on youtube.

With everything properly configured you should be able to archive at least 29Mhash with that card

I'd be glad to hear what stripes were used, i did exprement as well with this card and really interesting case - few cards work at 28mh others downgraded to 18mh.... with same bios under ethos without any additional changes (default  clocks 1180 and 2000). Was wondering why cards do act differently, maybe smb tryed and got it more stable?

maybe smb knows how to undervolt rx480 cards under ethos?

I have the same cards and they came with Samsung memory. You can verify the memory brand of your card in GPU-Z.  It's pretty simple to modify the memory straps of your original bios. All you need is atiflash and Polaris Bios Editor:

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

https://github.com/caa82437/PolarisBiosEditor

Extract the Atiflash zip to a folder on your Desktop and open a command prompt in that folder. The first step is to backup your original bios in case something goes bad. At the command prompt type:

Code:
atiflash -s 0 BACKUP.ROM

The above command assumes the index of video card you want to backup is 0. It's best to flash the cards one at a time and remove any other cards so you won't make a mistake. After you backup the bios, extract the Polaris bios editor zip to another folder on your Desktop and copy the bios you backed up to that folder. Run Polaris bios editor and open the bios in it. On the bottom right box, you will see the memory timing values. Most people start with copying the value in the 1500 or 1625 MHz box and replacing all the higher frequency values so they are the same. What works best is highly dependent on the type of card you have and the type of memory it uses, so you will have to research what works best for the cards you have. On my Asus STRIX RX 480 GAMING 8GB OC editions, they came with Samsung memory and the 1750 strap over the 2000 works best.

Once you adjust the memory straps save the bios and copy it to the atiflash folder. Flash the bios to your card with:

Code:
atiflash -p -f 0 MEMSTRAP.ROM

After it finishes loading the bios, don't reboot as it asks you to. Since you are using a modified custom bios and the new AMD drivers since 16.12 check for a valid bios signature, you need to patch the driver or use a driver older than 16.12 for Windows to recognize the card. To patch the driver download atikmdag-patcher:

https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher

and use it to patch the driver before rebooting.

BBT also posted the bios he used in the description of the YouTube video where he shows how to setup the Asus RX 480 rig he built
