This was gmaxwell's cautionary note in another thread.  Thought it would be a good reminder here too:

Another piece of fun advice:  Laptop thefts happen with some regularity at tech conferences ... at a Bitcoin conference if the thieves don't STEAL ALL THE LAPTOPS, they're sleeping on the job.

Prepare for theft by having a good backup and either not leaving coins on your laptop or at least using full disk encryption and wallet encryption. Be prepared to keep your laptop with you at all times. Consider bringing a lock for it.

And my footnote to that:

Let's hope Marriott and the rest of the major hotels are done changing all the guest room locks:

I would add that using the hotel wifi at a bitcoin conference may also be risky.
And as for the door lock exploit, this is never going to get fixed at most hotels.  I assume that this is the exploit from last year? It would require the hotel to not only replace all the locks but also the panel at the front desk. This is way more than most hotels can afford.

Question: I've gone through this:

http://www.bitcoin2013.com/uploads/1/4/9/4/14946598/conference_map.pdf

And I don't see MtGox anywhere.

Do I read this right? Is any member of Mr. Karpeles' gang going to be there at all?

Sorry I don't mean to be provoking, really just wondering.

Is there a confirmed meeting spot and time for those gathering ahead of the 6pm GigaOM meetup?   e.g., 4pm at a lounge in the Marriott or something?   I've already bumped into a couple bitcoiners wandering the streets ...  just putting out a place and time is likely to result in a gathering.
