I've been scammed for about $30 worth of bitcoin and it's about some Chinese guy that will ask for help in telegram that he will give the commission when we get the bitcoin out of that scammed website. I really don't know why i fall for it but i think because I'm desperate to make profit that day and my greediness end me up losing some btc. Well we can't do anything about it just learn from our mistakes and move on.

Have you ever been scammed? And what will you do if your bitcoin get scammed?

Few years ago, it seemed to be the beginning of 2013, I did not remember clearly, I've ever been scammed for nearly 20 BTC, I funded a gambling site, my account got frozen without any reason few hours after I funded.

I could do nothing except crying.

I bet you cried much more when you saw btc spiking up to $20k in December but I guarantee that you are going to be much more agonized when you know that this coming bull run and the next halving hype, an all time high will happen again and you start to tell yourself the 'if only' scenario in your head.

I have lost some btc to investment bots but to be scammed, not yet. It wouldn't be a pleasant feeling though but there isn't much you can do about it.

God!! 20 BTC is such a large amount... in fact it can be life changing. I have been a victim of scams a few times, but I never lost such big amounts. So it was easy for me to forget about everything and move on. But in your case, it would have been devastating. Moving on is one of the options, but if I were in your place, then I would definitely pursue the scammers.

Uhm no. Actually, I've been scammed once for $50 BTC, but I doxed the guy, found out he was on a forum (I was member of that forum as well), exposed him as a scammer and destroyed his reputation, then he decided to pay me back. The guy was literally desperate.

Sounds like you did the right thing. I fell for a stupid bitcoin faucet scam a couple of years ago, but I only lost .00450000 BTC. I also lost some BTC due to not storing passphrases and gambling. We can only learn once we lose bitcoin due to stupidity or theft.

But back then 20 BTC was not worth what it is today. I suspect very small fractions of BTC will be worth very significant amounts in the future, so that people will wonder why we threw or gave away tens of thousands of satoshis as if they were nothing.

What do you mean by investment bots, till now i have not come across this one, are you talking about trading bots? .
No one could scam you if you are not falling for their fancy returns and if you very well understand that there is nothing you can get for free or without any effort and if you have a logical reasoning on things, no one could scam anyone, but that is not the world we are living in, majority or all of the scams take attracts their victim by promising high returns and if everyone thinks logically, they will move on to other things.

Bitcoin was probably pricing 22-266 dollars on that time op mentioned (beginning of 2013). So he might have lost between 440-5320 dollars. Well, that is not too much depending the person, but it's a decent amount anyway. In some countries it's possible to live for more than 1 year with such amount.

Back to the question, I think what I would do depends on the scam situation. If it were an exchange I would sue them with all other users who were scammed, at least on this point regulations are very helpful.
But if scammed by other kinds of sites I think it's harder to fill an action against them, especially the pyramid schemes, that is why it's better to just not invest.

Since the bitcoin transactions are irreversible, unless you got the identity of the person who scammed you, nothing much you can do. Even if you have his/her identity, you should be able to prove that you are scammed by that person. Yes, it usually ends up bad.

Try to explain your situation to the police they'll look at you as they see an alien.   Grin

Exactly! That is why before you invest or transfer btc to a site or anyone make sure to double check everything because scam is everywhere whether we like it or not, scammers normally tell you good things and they have put a lot of effort to make it look like a legit one. We should be very keen and vigilant in handling our coins because of the fact that as of right now there isn't much a way to reversed BTC transfers from your end unless the other person will send it back.

I'm happy to say that I was never scammed since I joined the Bitcoin Community, because the friend who introduced me bitcoin told me to be very vigilant and not to believe when someone offer's something like making your money double in just a week. But if that will happen to me then I'll take it as a lesson to never trust your money to anyone.
Well, its better that we never experienced scammed. The important is prepare always, because scam is anywhere and you dont know if who they are and its a serious if you a victim of scam.

That was a sad experience OP though that time 13 BTC is not really that huge in terms of its liquidity compare to now where market price has gotten higher that reached to 8.7K USD. Well, in that case there is nothing we could do and you did the right thing whom to which you are crying with that incident. Now, it seems that many had learned lessons like this and many users now are aware on how to handle bitcoin to avoid getting scam.

And if you still gamble then I guess you have already chosen a good gambling site that will enable you to deposit your funds without getting scam. There are old good gambling sites that are operating right now and had a good reputation when it comes to online casino betting platform. I could suggest also on you to try 777 coin gambling site.

Getting scammed is never a nice thing and reading what other people have experienced shows that scammers prey on people's weakness to easily trust others...in the end genuine problems from honest people go without getting any help.

Yes plenty of times,
We all know that back before ICO's HYIP or PONZI SCHEMES are trendy and most of my social media friends are investor so I also tried it.
I have earned so many times through it but I also got scammed.
It is part of being an investor on those risky investment sites.

I've never been scammed in my entire life, it's pretty easy to avoid really, though sometimes you can just have bad luck.
There were a few times when I did something really stupid that could have caused me to get scammed, I'm thinking of giving a no-collateral loan to someone (just as The Pharmacist mentioned on page 1).

Luckily the person didn't end up scamming me, but they did scam someone else later on.
