I can't use bitcoin buying a coffee now.

I used to buy a coffee from time to time with bitcoin.
But I can't use bitcoin buying a coffee now, because the fee is so high, if I keep 0.0001 fee like before, it would take days for the transaction to get confirmed, I've got a transaction which took 11 days to get the 1st confirmation last month.  
It's not cost-effective any more to buy (I mean both online and buying face to face) thing via bitcoin. And this is why I quit buy coffee with bitcoin.

The point is that other coins like doge or litecoin is much less popular than bitcoin.  The coffee shop does  not accept doge and litecoin.

If that is the case then back in the traditional payment with fiat now and start saving bitcoin. There's no different if we have to use fiat or bitcoin in a physical coffee shop.

It was created to revolutionize the payment system, and financial sector, but the way to pay by bitcoin for cofee is still far in the future.

It doesnt make sense because of the fee size, so you need to decrease it somehow-but you simply cant.

I would just prefer to use regular cash, or convert my crypto to fiat, just to pay for coffee right?
It isn't hard for me to understand that some people are very happy that bitcoin payment is available in some of the shops, but I dont think that this example is a best use I couls imagine.

The main point if you can't use bitcoin to buy a cup of coffee right now. He means the off-chain transaction while there is a problem with the blockchain network and your transaction will be delivered over 2-3 hours.
Last night my transaction has delivered after 6-8 hours. Thus use the on-chain transaction will not be recommended just for buying a coffee.

I guess if your problem on the confirmation should be those stores do not need to use the confirmation because it will need the long time, to my knowledge every transaction it will not be returned to the sender but will only take a long time only, so in a business like this should have a payment using bitcoin no need to use 2 confirmation again

you can still use bitcoin as payment for some personal shopping if they don't require a confirmation to be able to be a valid purchase. I agree that with the current high fee that is required for btc to be confirmed as fast as before is too much already to use on a daily basis. It's a good thing that some wallet provider still have options that they cover the charge for fee of about 40k satoshis.

yes thats true transactions nowday are really broken the records. i belive some company can make a offchain wallet system of their own and can easily earn some tax by providing a very low cost transaction system. even if i have some time and resources i can start this wallet right now. i hope soon someone take  this step that can save everyone a huge amount of tax

I feel you mate , thats why Im buying my personal stuffs now by using fiat because bitcoin transactions today needs high fee in order to make a transaction more faster. Its better in my case to convert my bitcoins into local currency and buy the things I want.

can't you pay offchain your coffe, they don't accept this kind of service? a coffe isn't worth much i think they could accept it off-chain with zero confirmation, if no solution is present i find that we need other good altcoin, for this kind of small payment, altcoin that have only the usage for this small transaction, and have not the problem of the block limit, because they need to handle few transaction per day

Good idea for OP.  However, why anyone would want to spend their precious crypto on something as consumable as coffee is beyond me.   But good luck in doing so if that's your desire.

There is a very easy workaround to enable you to still buy coffee with Bitcoin. Get the coffee merchant to open up a Xapo wallet and then do off-chain

transactions within the Xapo network for zero fees and immediate confirmations. They will only have to pay one fee, when they tally up the days

transactions and then withdraw it from the Xapo network to the Blockchain. We had to do this to get past the problems we experienced a while ago

when there were spam attacks on the network. { It will only be temporary, until the scaling issues has been solved }

Yes, only with an improvement like segwit we can start buying cheap, little things with bitcoins. Bitcoin isn't fully developed yet to work with full efficiency as users want. And it's not so easy to do, as the community thinks different in many aspects.
To implement something it takes too much time and discussion about.

Yes it is not and soon coinbase and xapo like centralized payment processors may become first choice for both coffee shops and users to pay without fee. But we can't say this off-chain transactions as true bitcoin transactions.

That's an angle that really never should have been pushed as it's obvious the fee situation was going to arrive eventually. I'm surprised at the speed it has arrived, but as many others have pointed out, using thousands of computers to store your coffee transaction for all eternity is a bit extravagant.

Sad but true. We cannot use bitcoin for micro payments right now. The fees are painfully high and the confirmation time painfully too long. I have a transaction that took a day to confirm even when I paid a decent amount of fee and the unconfirmed transactions on the Blockchain is low.

I'm not so much into the technical details but yeah, the high tx fees and long confirmation will make microtransactions not satisfactory for a long time. We won't be able to use it for such stuff until these are fixed and so we'd still need to have fiat on standby for buying goods. And to think they used to pay more than a dozen bitcoins for pizza.

Looks like we are still a long way to go from the dream of being financially free of state, only using bitcoins for transactions.
