Jenkins exhausting, 48-hour record is still on the books together with 15 other FIA records from 1940.
This is the problem--no one remembers how slow someone was The 48-hour record means it was the fastest (shortest time) at that time. There were probably people who took 50+ hours, but no one recorded them because they were the losers... but still dont say if he stopped to sleep for 2 hours or something

Still researching the subject, looks like the Ab Jenkins 48 hour record was with another driver for a portion(unsure atm of the total consecutive time). For the 24 hour endurance trips he took 30 second refueling breaks but the driver remained in the seat.
is there a deadline on this?

Would you clarify for us whether you're looking for the longest DISTANCE traveled continuously by a single person or the longest TIME traveled continuously by a single person? Thank you.

There will be no WR for this as it endangers lives attempting it - going against the self imposed rules.

This is what I found on out on my lunch break. According to Julie, at Guinness Book of World Records. This record attempt in the United States would be illegal to drive consecutively. You will need to abide by the same laws a trucker would. Allowing 11 hours for driving and 10 consecutive hours off after driving time. Where your record attempt would come in would be spending this time in the vehicle while driving and off the clock. meaning you cant leave the vehicle. Yes, even for bathroom breaks. Refueling will be tricky, you may a lot yourself 10 mins to get gas, then its back in the vehicle. You may also have someone pump gas for you to keep from being disqualified from extra time spent paying for gas or standing in line. Julie also stated that depending on your record attempt you can break multiple records during that period. Most miles driven without leaving vehicle, States visited, Towns passed through, and so on. She recommended coming up with you record Idea, break it down to exactly how much time you will be in the vehicle, how you will eat and abide by any laws in the area you will be attempting the record. She also said that during the record attempt it would be best to notify authorites in areas you will be traveling through, if any laws are broken the record does not count. Currently NO WORLD RECORD exist, So type out your record proposal and send to Guinness World records, there contact info is below. After the proposal is enter you will be contacted by Guinness, to let you know how to provide proof, some case's a Guinness Witness may need to be Present at the time of the record. So those are the details you will have to work out with them Julie, referred me to this contact info so you can submit your proposal. I'm actually wondering about a site I saw in the newbies forum and whether it's a scam or not (newbiejail.org). Instead of paying me, try out that site with the 0.01BTC and do us all a favor of seeing if it's a scam or not

This might be interesting to you too 420---Nicolas Rapp spent a year trying to drive around the world and documented everything http://transworldexpedition.com/ it's pretty neat. "In the summer of 2009, Nicolas Rapp decided to take a break from his Art Director job at The Associated Press to attempt a one-year overland travel around the world in a 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser. He was back in New York in February 2011 after traveling 15 months and 37,000 miles."
