North Korea is the new age pirate and they are not after gold but they are after bitcoin. According to this article North Korea has successfully hacked bitcoin into their hands starting 2013 to 2015. It was also estimated that they have harvested 100 million yuan worth of bitcoin every month from hacking. The community must not be silent against it rather there must be some measures to be done so to avoid this unwanted hacking incidents.

Not enough details or proof in that article to convince me of anything.  And it sounds like N & S. Korea are just hacking each other's bitcoin.  I'm not worried.

On an unrelated note, OP, does Yobit still run a signature campaign?  I like the one I'm in, but man do I miss being in Yobit's.  I liked getting paid daily.

~ North Korea has successfully hacked bitcoin~

nobody has ever hacked bitcoin and bitcoin has always been unhackable.

what hacker do is that they hack services, steal private keys from other people's computer which is not encrypted or if it is encrypted steal it with its password because they haven't been using cold storage.

and this article seems to be more racist than having facts or proof that the hackers originate from North Korea.

Do you know North Korea is a big bluffer?

If North Korea was a poker player, it would be a total bankrupt by the 3rd round.

It would be funny if it turned out a lot of these shitcoin devs were really the North Korean government Cheesy

I wonder how many signature campaigns the North Koreans have conducted  Tongue

The pseudonymous of bitcoin give an advantage for the hacker. According to the article it worth $88,000 in dollar. But it's a small amount comparing with another case like mtgox or bitfinex with over thousands of bitcoin.

But I don't ever think the community can prevent the hacked. If the hacker is using the malware or phishing for stole the bitcoin. Just take care about every link that you will be visiting it.

I don't ever huge activities related to bitcoin on south Korean. In my mind, if this based on speculation.

I don't think this article is true. My reasons for believing is if such kind of hacking would have been taking place, how did it go unnoticed, or why did no one reported this kind of before. Then another thing that I am reminded is of ain't Bitcoins banned or not at all allowed in North Korea. So why would North Korea do this. This article also is completely vague on many parts. I feel the Op has been completely mislead by this article and I am sure reading every one comment he will realize that.

Yeah, this is quite a big news but at the same time the content haven't got any strong proof. At the same North Korea has made several atomic war plans and have been involving into continuous testing. Soon can expect a war between North Korea and US.

This news could be said to be true for north korea is very closed to the international community, so that their movement is not known to anyone, and it is normal if there is a presumption of hackers come from there. But this news is absolutely wrong and I think it was just a little propaganda to expose the north korea from the outside.

Well it seems like that whatever the North Koreans do, it is always somehow related to hacking , lol.
I think that it does sound likely it is something that the North Koreans would do, as they have forged notes before as well of the United States actually.
This shouldn't be a worry to anyone here though, because the internet in North korea is so bad anyways they can't brute force anything Tongue

All jokes aside, as long as you secure your wallet, preferably even with BIP38 encryption, you should be fine.
I wouldn't be surprised if majority of these coins stolen are actually from web wallet services, like Coinbase.
It is easier to hack a email and reset the password, than to crack a private key with brute force.
Stay safe !
