I logged in to my twitter account which had a new message from a stranger. He said he found me via bitcointalk.org but that he wanted to message me outside of the forum to go undiscovered by moderators. ??
He offered to buy my bitcointalk.org account for a sum of .08 btc.   While I was momentarily tempted,  I decided to block the user, but I can't help but wonder what type of mischief this character is looking for?  I have been working on increasing my credibility and reputation for too long to sell it... but how many of our trusted members are merely purchased accounts?  Is there any way to measure who is who?  What does it say about the value of the higher status members in terms of genuine trustworthiness?   Does this happen to EVERYONE?

Yes, thank you I did block him, and you're absolutely right.  I just wondered what could be his motivation?

What fucking idiot would offer you 0.08 for your account, about which there is nothing special?  Must've been a scammer, else he was severely psychologically retarded.   You should have offered him help.

Look at people's feedback. Sometimes it will tell you if an account has been sold.  Otherwise there's no telling.

Haha!! This was both rude and hilarious at the same time.   I am offended kinda, but mostly I am amused by your response, because it is as helpful as it is offensive. At least you have some valuable insights.   I have to say, I think my account is perfectly special, but it doesn't mean I am selling anything.

I have to laugh because you have a blunt personality.  At least I know you are honest.
Thanks and Wow.

Simply put, two things:
1) He is planning on scamming someone.
2) Standard account farming/shitposting with signature campaigns.

Bitcointalk doesn't really do anything about either one of the case (they do *some* work towards the latter one, but it's highly lenient, inefficient and therefore useless). Read this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1826778.0

Now that you've caught my attention, mind elaborating this extreme support of a serial scammer?

Are you referring to Lenny? I left feedback as it was deserved.  He paid me for every task I completed as promised and I feel I was honest and It doesn't matter if anyone agrees with me. I always leave feedback for business transactions, and always will be genuine on those.  Sorry if you disagree with my opinion of another user, but my opinion of Lenny doesn't change because you don't agree. He has always been fair to me.
Thanks for your input though, it is valuable.

I omitted this detail from my post intentionally because I do not his have complete info.
I was only contacted on Twitter.  I was not given any information regarding his bitcointalk.org presence and I didn't ask. Instead I opted not to communicate at all, and that account is blocked.

This isn't about opinions, this is about facts. It is a fact that Lenny has scammed several users of this forum and even outside of it. Look at the trusted negative ratings and their references.

Once I had his username, I would have exposed him.

 Huh Roll Eyes

Lauda,
I respect and admire your ranking and seniority here in the forums.  I am offended by your choice of words when you said the creating of this thread was pointless.  I do not see it as pointless, but thank you for asserting that opinion Lauda.
If you had addressed my entire post, you would have clearly seen the point. In posting this topic I had hoped to gain the insight of higher ranked, more experienced members.  I hoped to hear opinions about damages that can occur to the true value of trust here in the forum, with this type of shady offer.   I asked for thoughts regarding the affect on the credibility of trusted members, if this situation is common.
Instead of sharing your knowledge with me, you quickly explained the lack of consequences such scammers face, then you shifted the entire thread to point at unrelated and irrelevant feedback that I gave to another member.  You hikacked my thread and the point was made invisible when you chose to illuminate your disdain for Lenny, my friend, who has always paid me fairly for tasks assigned, as I said in multiple positive feedback comments.
In conclusion, Lauda, my post was NOT pointless but your action of hijacking the thread was pointless.  Your public scolding was pointless.  I appreciated your reply, up until you shifted the whole thing into a bashing opportunity on a member who isn't even around to defend himself.  That is unfair and I wish you would think of others and how you affect them before blurting accusations and irreversibly harming an otherwise unscathed reputation (mine).
Thanks for showing how super tough you are. That is impressive. However if your goal was to discredit me, it did not work.  Angry

Speaking of credibility and reputation I just checked your blog.
It is full of ponzi sites with your referral link.

Isn't that irony?

No sir that isn't Irony. Especially since you are making FICTIONAL statements.
Once again,  I am shocked by the lack of due diligence and ordinary care taken by someone before they make WRITTEN claims. Written claims as damaging as you just spat at me are wasteful and venomous, and you didn't even make sure you were saying something TRUE. That is careless.  I don't want to mimick such malicious behaviors, but it is unkind to gossip and throw dirt around.
You may not be aware of how freelance journalism works, but my articles are published across a wide
Variety of sites.  The site owners pay me for my content and they have 3rd party advertisers who I am not associated with.
Show me ONE referral link that is attached to my written work.  You can try, but I have never mixed the two things.  You assumed You would find referral links based on a single visit to an article I wrote, at least that is my guess.  It's amazing how fast people state "facts" without any evidence or material to support the vicious things they say.

As I said previously, in my note to Lauda, the response was decent up until the point when the thread took a turn towards a totally different topic.  I appreciate that you are defending Lauda, since my tone of annoyance was detectable.  I understand your loyalty.  You could have at least taken some time to make sure your ammo was accurate.  The nonsense about my blog.  You didn't read my words here, and you didn't really read any blog that led to referrals benefiting me.  That was at best an incorrect assumption, and at worst, a lie for no good reason.  I will concede the argument out of respect for this forum, and because I can see where this will take me if I allow the relentless nitpicking to get under my skin.  I am a happy, talented woman, and I welcome  positive, useful exchanges of the mind.  I don't want to squander any more energy trying to dethorn a cactus.

I am sorry, i thought it was your website, you are just writing blogs for site which is promoting ponzi scams.
My mistake. Please take my apologies. There is really no need to write essay about it.

Second i am not defending lauda but lauda did answer your question, i think you missed it so I point it to you.

i think it's a pretty simple explanation really.

unlike almost everyone else here, your profile is linked to what seems to be a real world identity. that promotes trust. more scam possibilities.

linked a bitcointalk account to twitter or facebook does not means PPl will trust that account,
the most important its the historical post, the feedback you leave and receive.
