My view is that CC's as a concept have a total market penetration value. Thus LTC will suck out value from BTC to the level of LTC success v BTC success in that market penetration, and so on.

Further exchanges like BTC-e will be forced to list more coins as they lose market share to gox. same with Vircurex

so FC and BYTE will be listed.

exactly, and when some odd coins in btc-e become less odd, hoarders will tweet magicaltux to list them in gox, and so the cycle continues.

the other appeal is it sort get the value out of early adopters hands in BTC, so that is very appealing to new chains and people that feel they missed out....

Yup. By the end of this year we can see 1 LTC > 1 BTC.

And as alt coins that are trash are exposed as trash over time by no usage as a means of exchange they will be removed after people lose interest in them.

NVC, TRC, and PPC (we'll see about the last one).

NVC, TRC, and PPC (we'll see about the last one).

If they offer nothing new they may face challenges

I suspect TRC is a pet coin of well you figure it out.

PPC however I think will take the crown from BTC.

I am not sure about LTC 1 to 1.

On one hand it has speed, and asic resistant so it will have much more broad based appeal until and asic comes out for it..

LTC may face 4x chain bloat over BTC though....

Feel free to correct me If I am wrong on any point

This is GOOD -

The pie needs to grow and hearts and minds need to be won - only ALL of the people together can topple central banking IMHO - not a few of the earliest adopters.

People who have said this is bad for cryptos are extremely shortsighted.

With the ASICs coming we need a currency for new people to adjust to the idea of mining and understand that a central authority does not issue money in the future.

This lets new people better participate and accept what for many will be a major psychological change in their minds regarding "what is money?" and its decentralization.

Bitcoin needs Litecoin and other alts whether the elitists admit it or not.  It is a useful exercise for new people to be able to participate in the generation of "money."

I humbly suggest do a little reading on PPC digest it all...

It has some rather large advantages....the BTC may have to adopt...

Yes and VHS got accepted because the porn industry chose VHS over Betamax.

So all we need to do is get the porn industry to accept LTC. That'll skyrocket the price.

VHS only won because the the size of the it meant a bigger hole for kids to post their hot wheels cars into the VHS player Grin

I rather pay with coins and be more anonymous than using my CreditCard with full name. And its not refundable.. so its should be a good option for the porn industry in my eyes

PPC needs to work out the checkpoint issue and also someone mentioned that POS can still be gamed.

I like the idea of PPC but there are still issues.

Also PPC can never be 1:1 with Bitcoin unless Bitcoin actually fails, because there are already more PPC than Bitcoins in existence.

Well said!  The democratization of crypto-currencies will be ensured with grass-roots involvement (mining) by its users.
