Segwit is currently signaling at around 76 to 79 percent: http://segwit.co/ltc

We need to maintain 75%+ throughout the end of the activation period to get it activated. If we all pull together, then we will defeat Jihan and his cronies. Surely he will be firing up as many ASICs as he can to defeat Segwit, so it is not safe to assume the current percentage will remain intact. In fact, in the last 576 blocks, the percentage signaling for Segwit has gone down from 78.6% since the period start to 76.4% (it is possible that is just variance though).

How can you help?

1. Mine LTC with anything you can until Segwit is activated!!!

Mine LTC with your mining rigs, even if mining something else is more profitable
Mine LTC with any computer available, utilizing both the CPU(s) and GPU(s)
Don't forget to mine LTC on your laptop(s)
Pick up more hashing power at the store by buying extra GPUs
Rent hash power (For example, you can do so at https://nicehash.com/ or https://hashflare.io/)

2. Make sure your hash power is pointed at a pool that is signaling for Segwit.

Segwit will be an huge boost not only for LTC, but even for BTC itself.

Get a a Scrypt asic (from) China?  Gpu mining on scrypt is dead. Supporting it like that is symbolic.
Mining on a laptop is not really something you should do.  Safest way is probably renting some scrypt Asics for the next weeks.

Obviously the less efficient mining methods are not ideal for long term Litecoin mining.

However, the purpose of this is to make sure Segwit is activated, and every extra hash will help ensure that it happens.

I understand and I will try to rent some hashing power, but GPU mining on a laptop is not really something you should do/or promote.

Hmm,

Chinese Mining Pools Control the Majority of the Hash on Bitcoin (where it is being blocked) & on Litecoin (Where it is close to being activated.)

Same guys activating one and blocking the other.
