I would have no idea why not. They should be based on the same principle.  Although I am not sure if the hashing works exactly the same.

Clearly I know nothing of litecoin. Glad to see others corrected me. Guess you learn every day!

FPGA, probably not for a while.

ASIC, no. If they are developed, it will take a long while. Current ASIC's, i.e BFL, are for one thing and one thing only: Mining Bitcoins. If they are made for mining BTC, they will never do something else.

Currently, it's only CPU and GPU LTC mining.

You can`t because Litecoins use Scrypt, an algorithm that is heavy memory based. FPGAs/ASICs doesn`t have much memory so at this point they are almost useless
