Hello, everyone!

I discovered cryptocurrencies for myself just recently, so I'm a little late for the party  Cheesy
Anyways, I am interested in mining cryptocurrency, but I am not sure which cryptocurrency has the highest return in usd.
Also, which hardware would provide the highest return on investment?

I have read a few threads over here, but I couldn't find all the answers to my questions.
I realize that cryptocurrencies are very volatile, which means that my return on investment will change as the time goes on.
Mining bitcoin does not seem the best option to me, but I may be wrong. I would like to hear your opinion on which cryptos are best to mine now, and which of them are expected to rise.

Any tips for a newbie miner are apprecited!

P.S. My electricity rate is about $0.018. I think it's a pretty good rate to mine cryptocurrency  Smiley

Every altcoin will be profitable for you with that electricity rate. Even bitcoin is really profitable for you with that electricity rate. I think you should buy an antminer S9 and start mining bitcoin, that electricity rate is like free compared to what I pay here 0.18$ , you have ten times lower energy cost than me , meaning 10 times better return rate from anything you are mining.

I am in the same situation but I dont have much fund (about 2000$). I browsing some youtube channel, blog, ... They recommend that I should start buy buying nicehash ? But basically I dont understand how it work and how it bring profit more than I buying some rig or ASIC machine and start mining with some pool.

I'd advise you try GPU mining altcoins (ETH, XMR, ZEC, ..) and don't mine Bitcoin. You can sell the alts for Bitcoin if you want to hold Bitcoin.
The reasons behind this would be:
* when the hardware becomes more or less obsolete you still can resell it as "used gaming hardware", as opposed to ASIC (for BTC) which would become useless.
* you can switch to the most profitable coin, you have more options around and more will come out.
* the initial investment can be smaller

Wow, really good price of electricity Smiley Buy as much GPU's as you can and mine alts, you can hold them or change to BTC, there are options if you mine with GPU's, and none if you mine Bitcoin directly. On the flip side, ASIC's are set and forget, much easier for beginners.

It really depends on how much of an initial investment you want to make but right now Ethereum is probably the way to go even though it will be probably be implementing proof of stake late this year. I would reccomend  mining Bitcoin. As for what crypto is expected to rise, you can mine Ethereum for the highest profit and trade it for other coins that are more likely to go up. Hope I was of some help to you : )

I live in Russian Federation. Standard electricity rates here are around 5-7 cents.
There is a hydropower plant in my city, which is why the electricity rate is that low.

I thank you all for your replies!

I guess pretty much anything would be profitable with my electricity rate.
I'm leaning towards mining ethereum on GPU, because in my opinion Antminer S9 may become obsolete quite soon.

I have one more question. Does mining ethereum on GPU requires a lot of traffic?
