Real Madrid hasn't been able to find a truly high-quality left-back for a long time since Roberto Carlos. Marcelo and Cuentrao haven't been able to provide a complete solution.

It looks like a bad move on paper for Chelsea football club, but are they going to force a player that no longer want to be at the club to stay put? No if you ask me because no player is irreplaceable.
This is a player that came out openly and talked about how he wanted to go to real madrid so bad, just like Enzo Fernandez did, so forcing him to stay when he wanted to leave the club by handing in a transfer request doesn't makes any sense, so I agree with the decision to let him go since he handed in a transfer request.

I will not be mind blown if Jose Mourinho comes January transfer to make a bid for the Ecuadorian midfielder Caicedo likewise. He is the next makalele and he has all the qualities to be a Madridster.

There are so many strange things going on, Xabi Alonso to Chelsea instead of Liverpool. Amorim perhaps to AC Milan. Cucurela, I don't know, he is not a bad player, but is he a good Real Madrid target for a transfer? I have never seen him as this outstanding top five defender in the world. This league won't be too hard for him if he wants to experience the atmosphere of Serie A, but for a club to coach like Milan it seems like he has to bear a heavy burden. Coaching Milan means getting the club back on track to play in the Champions League. Amorim quality in the EPL alone is difficult let alone required to raise Milan reputation.

Players previously linked to Barcelona were actually immediately snapped up by Real Madrid. they really moved quickly to secure potential players to fill the gaps in their squad, especially in positions that needed better players, such as their defense.. with Cucurela, it is a good option for now to be able to improve Real Madrid's defense, especially with their mission to win major trophies next season, they need players of Cucurela's caliber. so this is a good move from Real Madrid, can't wait to see how they perform next season.

That is a big issue and what big clubs are most afraid of - to not qualify for the Champions League because that does indeed cause a lot of stress on the players that are already there and on potential players that could or could not be signed. It is a big deal for them to not play in the Champions League especially when they are usually used to play there.

As for Xabi Alonso I thought there were talks behind the scenes and the rumours were pretty serious, but I don't know for sure of course. Your thesis that Liverpool would turn him down now because he chose Real Madrid over them, it could be true as there is some merit to it.

Chelsea despite the money has been far too inconsistent and there lust Champions League win was an outlier and I think most players know it, but Chelsea had the money to still sign many of them.

It is possible that Alonso decided to go to Chelsea because he doesn't have much to lose. Yes the pressure is high there as well, but taking over a club that failed to qualify for the Champions League gives him more options to call a season great when in reality it wasn't. If Chelsea qualifies for the Champions League as fourth in the table next season, he can say it was great progress. Finishing fourth with one of the top real clubs is a disappointment.
