Atletico Madrid seems to want to make it difficult for Alvarez to leave Barcelona. In my opinion, with this uncertainty Barcelona should immediately explore alternative options if there's no chance of signing Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

I believe that atletico madrid are just not happy with the disrespectful approach of Barcelona, that's why they are making things difficult by demanding that his full release clause of €500million be paid in full before any deal will ever take place.
Additionally, selling their best players to a direct rivals will not only weaken them, but it might also hunter them anytime in the future, so I get it why atletico madrid are making things difficult. But it's not a good approach by atletico madrid to keep an unhappy player, if his head is turned around.

They have already rejected several big offer and their CEO has repeatedly made it clear that Alvarez is not for sale. Of course PSG are asking a high price for him but I think it also depends on what the player wats to do: Doue improved a lot during the last 2 years, and many times he was the starter and Barcola would be benched. In as much as I would like to see Alvarez in Barce's Jersey, I think it's also best that we try to look at it from the Atlectico Madrid's pov. Alvarez is literally their best player, and the club still has plans for him. I think it's a bit unfair to point all fingers at them, while failing to see that it's also matter of rivalry and competition. I don't think any club would willingly sell its best player to it's rivals, especially for an amount that is not that significant if we choose to judge based on the current overpricing in world football.
