I really don't understand these 2 clubs, few weeks ago it was announced that Barcelona and Manchester City has reached an agreement to sign Rodri and a few was agreed upon. Today I'm seeing a news that Manchester City has communicated with Barcelona regarding the fees + add ons, stating that it's not enough. The news claims €60 million isn't enough to land Rodri from Manchester City, which simply means, Barcelona needs to add more money. Before the world cup, I don't think any club will be willing to pay €40 million for Rodri considering his age and injury but here is Manchester City demanding more than €60 million for this same player, no wonder Real Madrid weren't even interested in the deal because how could you want to sell an injury prone player at this amount of money. I just hope he gives Barcelona 2 - 3 of his best if eventually they sign him because ACL injuries are like a time bomb.
Inasmuch as a deal has not been finalised, a club can still decide to reduce or increase the transfer fee of a player so what is happening between Manchester City and Barcelona in the signing of Rodri is normal. The problem with Manchester City is that they as still rating Rodri same way he was before he started falling to injury. And again, since Rodri has a ballon d'or award they still want to accord him that respect by increasing his transfer fee. Remember that Barcelona earlier made  a bid of €45 million before they increased it to €60 million while Manchester City was demanding €75 million. I think that if the fee is at €60 million currently, it means that Manchester City even accepted to slash the price but however, the transfer fee will become official soon since negotiation is still ongoing.

You got any sauce  Grin? Not sure why you mentioned raised because last  i checked, Barca already offered 60M and it was rejected. Definitely, we can't rely on Balde that's going on and off.

The fee was right from the start a region between 65M to 80M and I think a 70M will be worth it. Yes in the past it is outrageous to actually sign a 30 year old for that amount, but I don’t blame Manchester city because they might have seen the kind of money players move for now. Casemiro move for closed to this amount to Manchester United from Real Madrid and I can tell you it was worth for Manchester United than most of the young 70M players. This same transfer window we have seen Bruno Guimaraes move to Arsenal for a almost same amount and he is just less than 2 year old compared to Rodri, so it shouldn’t be surprising that Manchester city is demanding this amount for a World Cup winner, Ballon d’or winner and also golden ball current holder.

Yes I have high confidence that Cancelo will join Barcelona before the transfer window closes, I saw the news that he was actually dropped from the Al Hilal squad which means only one thing

I think the Mika Godts signing is a good one for PSG, he's young and will be more patient with being on the bench. It's a perfect opportunity for PSG to cash out on Barcola.
I noticed the recent pattern to the signings made by Luis Enrique; he's not going after very top players but players who are talented and hungry to have a platform to show their skill.
Digne from Aston Villa, Akliouche from Monaco, Ferran Torres from Barcelona, and Mika Godts from Ajax. These are all players that will  be willing to bend to the will of the coach and follow his every instructions when they have their chance to play.

Luis Enrique already has 13 trophies since joining PSG in 2023; he looks hungry for more to add to the total 22 trophies he has to his name. He can win more with PSG; if he is able to get 27 more trophies with PSG, he will be topping Sir Alex Ferguson as the coach with the most trophies.

Can he get 27 trophies?
If he stays with the club a little longer I think it can be possible but won't be easy. In just 3 seasons winning 13 trophies is pretty impressive. Most people look at the numbers and how fast he achieved that but what interests me most in all this is how improved PSG has become under him. No one expected them to become this good especially not when a lot of stars left them.

Every manager wants to work with players that won't question their instructions. I do know that this won't last forever, we've seen lots of managers dominate and fade with time, I just hope before it does he is able to get 27 more trophies to match Ferguson's record, won't be easy though.

A risky choice, is not it? I meant Xavi has ever coached Barcelona, but he only has short experience as manager in the top club's level. So i guess it's too early for him for this because he's also lacking of experience in the coaching various clubs with different type of players.
If he ever coached various top clubs, then i can understand it if he moves up to coach national team. But i still think he still lacks of experience.

So i can only guess he takes this job by aware coaching national team will give him less pressures, but more money.

I don't like this thing that a coach of a particular national team can go and coach another.
I think it's also a bit about patriotism, about feeling part of your people. So, i don't know, i don't find it something that makes sense and that can actually coexist with the club and the national team that is being trained.

I don't entirely consider Rodri age as a factor here rather his injury records is the major factor for me. This might just be a way to say they are not ready to let him go yet especially if he is not forcing for it.

Negotiations can still continue and Barcelona may opt for a transfer fee structure that won't be demanding for them which will help them not to pay all at once.

🚨🔴🔵 BREAKING: Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain, HERE WE GO! 💥

Deal confirmed for World Cup final hero as Barça receive a fee worth €50m from PSG.

Ferran only wanted Paris and the agreement has been sealed after being at final stages for several days. All done.

It is finally official

https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/2087962977123045397

Ferran Torres’s transfer to PSG is reportedly still in the process of finalizing the paperwork. And he will then undergo a medical exam. Perhaps Barcelona’s decision to quickly let one of their players go is due to financial reasons as they are reportedly working to stabilize their finances. And Barcelona appears to have another opportunity to bring in new players to their squad following Ferran Torres’s departure. As for Ferran Torres he still has a long future ahead of him in his football career. He is currently in his prime and capable of delivering his best performance. His career could take off even further once he joins PSG. This would cause his value as a football player to skyrocket. But he must consistently make a positive impact on the team he plays for in order to ensure a long career.

City has raised their asking price for Rodri. They're not accepting 55m, they want at least 60m. I believe Barca will finalize this transfer soon.
You got any sauce  Grin? Not sure why you mentioned raised because last  i checked, Barca already offered 60M and it was rejected. two title winner, world cup winner, and golden ball winner. Is not it enough to glorify Rodri's price? I understand age and injury prone is the key problem, but when his game can be managed well, he can also be far away from getting injury.
I'd be buying him with 70m instead of gambling more than 100m/ 120m to buy a new a DM that comes Bundesliga or League one.

Barcelona has to take the middle price around 60m + 5m add ons or they can go straight to the 65m to seal this deal. This price obviously make sense when these days, a midfielder who has no good track record or titleless being priced 100m.  Grin

The funny thing about this Rodri saga is that Rodri himself has already placed himself between the lines, saying that if Barcelona does not push through with the deal, he is going to give his heart to Man City till the time of his contract expiration. Still I feel Barcelona is the best place for Rodri and the club right now.

The transfer window is almost coming to an end and it still feels like Barcelona are not going to get a striker, it's not really funny being broke.
Barcelona has Pedri in the team, which is more positive side for the team. If Rodri returns at this moment, it will be difficult for any team to break Barca's midfield. If Rodri and Pedri are together, Barca will be stronger in ball control, pressing and defense. But without Rodri, the team's midfield is still strong. So I think the team will not have to suffer too much with the midfield or defense.

But currently, the team may need a new striker in this wing. The team has good strikers like Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal. But if the team could add a little more depth before the transfer window ends, they will be able to enjoy the entire season comfortably.

On the deadline of 5pm Friday placed on the transfer discussion of Chelsea player Enzo Fernandez but then failing short by €20 millions, Manchester City made a €120 million buy offer as against Chelsea tag price of €140 millions pounds, this brought the players transfers discussion to a halt despite Enzo Fernandez being ready with his personal terms. Chelsea want exact amount they paid on getting the players to the club in, unless something happens in the next few hours otherwise this can be the end of transfer talk on Enzo unless other players in Chelsea line up for sale this season.

For Rodri to go back to England after staying that long in Spain, and the league is about to Kickstart, it then means the deal might likely not go through, else he would have just stayed back. A lot of factors are being considered by Barcelona, €60 million might look as though is big on the side of Barcelona, but they seriously considering his kneel injury that he is prone to, Rodri is not a 23 years old player that you might take that risk because age especially when it comes to recovery, Rodri is 30+ and at that age, it purely redundancy given the kind of injury he has gone through, no doubt that he might give out good performance on some occasions, but you will just have to be might full on how regular you play him, and that's what Barca are skeptical about.

If you're in Manchester City's shoe you would do the same, remember Rodri won the Golden ball in the just concluded FIFA World cup, aside that he's a Ballon D'or winner, I'd still say he played a major role in Spain victory on the just concluded FIFA World, so I don't really blame Manchester City if they are asking for that much, in my opinion I'd say since Barcelona is ready for a fight they should be ready for the punch also, in other words since they want a top player they should pay what is required of them, if they can't they should back off for others to step in.

I-Snip-
I don't entirely consider Rodri age as a factor here rather his injury records is the major factor for me. This might just be a way to say they are not ready to let him go yet especially if he is not forcing for it.

Negotiations can still continue and Barcelona may opt for a transfer fee structure that won't be demanding for them which will help them not to pay all at once.
It might be the end of the transfer or things can get better and he travel back, nevertheless if Rodri was still in his early twenties even with the knee injury woe(s) he would have been sold for €100m+ but is age is a factor yet if we consider how wild the transfer market has been we can say this is good for negotiations recall the amount Sunderland wanted to sell Xhaka for Chelsea,  at his age we could have said that eas ridiculous but in this current time thinking about it, we can say it's a negotiable one.

World Cup performance is just one of the things that has spoilt these teams with the outrageous amount they set for their key players. I just see it that Chelsea didn't want to let him go and of course why should they let him go when they are still battling with achieving a quality squad in preparation for the new season. I liked how Enzo Fernandez played at the World Cup but his awkward performance in the final which led to the red card that disorganised Argentina at extra time is something that irritated me about Enzo Fernandez but sometimes we can't just blame these players because most of them are under pressure during a final match so mistakes can be made.

Of course, you're right about that. Top-level players are only transferred for high fees, but the Spanish player is now nearing the end of his career. Therefore, the asking price seems excessive. Considering his quality, the price isn't excessive, but considering his age, it seems like a lot. So perhaps Barcelona might not be willing to pay that amount. In that case, Rodri might play another match for Manchester City. Hopefully, he won't suffer a long-term injury like last year.

He is often injured, that is definitely true. In my opinion, he can certainly play at a top level for at least another three years, of course, as long as he can stay clear of injuries. He showed some very good performances at the World Cup this time and was a key player in Spain's midfield. Last season for Man City, he made 21 appearances and scored 1 goal. Still, wherever he goes, i think he will be able to put in very good performances, and as for the price, i think City has every right to ask for as much as they are asking

TBH, Rodri shouldn't be worth more than €50 million. Forget about the Ballon d'Or and other individual honors. Rodri will not give much in the next 2 years because age will be much of a hindrance to him. Barcelona will benefit from Rodri in just 2 seasons if they successfully sign him. The cause for the high fee on Rodri is that Manchester City has an eye on Enzo Fernández. I think part of the money they want from Rodri will be added to balance out the €140 million Chelsea is requesting for Enzo Fernandez. Manchester City started this transfer hike in price. Let them have a taste of their own medicine.

I think the Manchester City deal on Enzo Fernández has already collapsed since Chelsea has made a hint that they won't be selling, although I am not certain, but I think I read somewhere or so. As for the Rodri deal, I get the point that age is a huge factor to consider in situations like this, and I can't argue less because age is not the only factor to consider here, as Rodri is not a player who gets to stay fit all through the season, as we have seen from his previous series of injuries.

The hate from English fan is now unacceptable. This guy Enzo give Chelsea to has life plans captain and have some much memories in blue colour but now it's time to say good by and start a new chapter with Enzo Maresca but the deal is very complicated hope it's done before the deadline happen but Enzo Maresca love Enzo Fernandez they want him very badly and I love he can play in Manchester City because the departure of Pep is giving so much tension to Manchester City fan but their hope are fully dependent on Maresca and they though he is the one guy which can replace Pep and has transfer statergy show all the things.

€140 millions pounds dollar yuan zloty? That's a lot of kilograms. Or a ton?

Some of the posts here are so ridiculously stupid, lol. It almost deserves a merit, but no, I can't do it.

Apart from that, the guy isn't worth the money at all. Overhyped and the price is ridiculous. Maybe he is not even worth half as much.

You cannot put age as the only criteria for which Rodri will not play well in the coming years because different players age differently and we have had players who have aged and become better in football based on experience and knowledge while some other players whom each have affected negatively. It is very possible that age effects Rodri positively in Barcelona that he develops into an experienced defensive midfielder for them in the next couple of seasons for the span of his contract. From what I watched him play in the World Cup he still looks like a player that has a lot to offer to any top team that signs him.
