£45m for Delap? Someone we all agree is a flop? How did Chelsea manage to convince Nottingham Forest to pay this high to get Delap?

The agent that is handling Chelsea transfer negotiation deserve a pay rise for his incredible job. If I remember correctly, Chelsea got this guy for £30m at his peak. He flopped at Chelsea but they however managed to get profit on his deal.

I hope Nottingham Forest can revive his career and get the best from him.
It's really surprising how Chelsea keep pulling up such high price for their players. I think credit needs to be given to the team handling transfers and negotiations, they have been really impressive in bargaining well.

Delap failed to perform to expectations, he was given enough chance but failed andi think it's safe to say he flopped and honestly I don't think he should be worth that amount but somehow Chelsea managed to bag 45m which is impressive.

I think playing for Chelsea alone raises a player's value no matter how you perform. If Delap should have performed well then his value should be close to 60m. I think he felt pressured playing for Chelsea that's why he couldn't play well but joining a lower team might revive his career again, with less pressure he should be able to perform well now.

🚨💣 BREAKING: Carlos Baleba to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between clubs.

Improved bid sent today after £65m package rejected and player set to join the only club he wanted.

Baleba, new United player soon. 🇨🇲

And here we go for Carlos Baleba, how are they going to operate in that midfield for Manchester United? Well, time will tell, but is the midfield a problem for the Red Devils? 1 game 1 loss, how is it going to be like with the new addition?
New arrivals Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa had a bad debut match against Hull City. The shocking defeat might be why Michael Carrick wants to ensure that the midfield is formidable. The Cameroon midfielder, Carlos Balebais, is 22 years old, which means he still has more years to learn and improve. He said he is happy to come to the club of his dreams and is excited to work with Carrick.

The effect of these new signings will be evaluated in the next game against Ipswich Town F.C. Ipswich has a very good manager Gary O'Neil, so United should be careful.

Wow!
How did this be, we made profit from an obvious flop, I hope the deal goes well and one way or another Liam Delap is able to find his feet.

I sincerely wish him well and hope he can become world beat but still I doubt I will want to miss him, man has done too many disappointing things for me to see him in such light.

A wild negotiation, my team can make crazy negotiation both in buying and selling.

Martinelli leaving doesn't sit well for me even if he's the kind of player that doesn't show up when it matters, missed chances and not knowing when to shot or release the ball, it happens but the Gunners need this player at least for the sake of injury or suspension, with Trossard gone I feel it will be nice if Arteta hold on to the Brazilian for this season. For me it would be better to drop Martinelli and sell Madueke.

After that embarrassing attacking performance in the last UCL final, Arteta made it clear that they were going to improve the attacking force of the team, and bring in players that are very decisive. That LW position has been struggling for the past few seasons. Martinelli wasn't getting better as a Winger, and Leo was getting old age-wise. I guess that was enough reason for Arteta to clean up the entire LW, and find new replacements.

So far, Tzolis has been exceptional, and has given us a glimpse of what a decent LWF should be doing. His positioning is quite decent... He knows when to make a pass... He knows when to make a run... He has a good first touch... He knows how to find a player easily, etc. Although, he seem to be a player that prioritize giving an assist rather than scoring, but I know he's quite decent at doing both. But in regards to the possible departure of Martinelli, there are actually two possible replacements.... And you can find them on HoA or Fabrizio's page twitter page.

Of course every team buys player with the idea to either sell them for more money or win some trophy thanks to them, this applies to everybody. In this specific case, Barcelona did it for the latter. Of course they know they won't be able to sell Rodri again for 70 millions, anyway Rodri's cost will be absorbed through the years, so it won't be 70 millions forever.
With Rodri’s current condition, they don’t buy him to resell him with profit, they buy him to help them win the Champions League and to continue dominating Laliga because they have seen clearly how Real Madrid is also signing young talented players to make their squad complete, Barcelona also used the opportunity they have to sign Rodri now that he is cheap, they don’t consider how often he get injured, all they wanted is his presence to guide the young midfielders and also make the team looks great again.

I think Rodri will likely retire in Barcelona, he is already old, no big team will consider signing him if he spent at least two seasons with Barcelona, and he will also be tired, and will like to retire from Barcelona especially if they win the Champions League.

Rodri is a quality footballer, and I don't think the money they paid for him is excessive. Ultimately, Barcelona can achieve great success with this player. I'm sure he'll make a huge contribution to the team when playing alongside a quality squad.
Rodri can stay here for years; he's not too old yet. Many footballers can continue to perform at a high level until they're 35-36 years old, and Rodri can do that too Smiley
That's a very good perspective because I think the same way you do. Barcelona will more than recoup the money they paid for him because he's a player who can achieve success that will bring Barcelona a lot of money in return. Considering he also won the Ballon d'Or, I think it's a very good transfer for Barcelona. Many people criticize the money they paid for him, but they don't consider that the player they acquired will play at a high level for at least five more years. I think the Rodri transfer is one of the best transfers of the season for Barcelona.

Chelsea has been getting the best deals these summer especially the amount they've been selling their players. Liam Delap has been a flop since he arrived Stamford Bridge and despite the recent hike in the transfer market, I don't think he's worth more than €30 million but somehow, Chelsea transfer negotiation experts were able to get such a good deal.

Chelsea at the moment are the best transfer revenues generating club right now. They bought some players use them and then sell them on profits it's actually a good business last season they made $350 million transfer spend and this season also they spend $402 million it's insane amount of bargain this season. Xabi Alonso never want a player which can't give has 100% to the team that's why Delap are out of the plan and one more thing they have alot of options in attacking so that's the main Reason and actually they made profit from this deal so why not sell this feran tores 2.0 Delap Haha.

They didn't play many minutes in Chelsea but hope they can play regular football in Nottingham Forest and show the real worth and I hope he can succeed there best of luck Delap you spent good year in Chelsea but now it's time to move on and find a new chapter in football.

I wouldn’t call Delap a Flop, he was a good player when he was with Ipswich before Chelsea signed him, he scored good number of goals, Manchester United was also very much interested in signing him before Chelsea high jacked the move, I think if he was a flop Chelsea wouldn’t have signed him, he wasn’t given enough playing time when he was at Chelsea, Joao Pedro was preferred over him, he lacked confidence in Chelsea because he wasn’t given enough playing minutes.

Nottingham Forest is a good move for him, considering that he would be given playing time to revive his playing career, he is the replacement for Taiwo Awoniyi who left for newly promoted Coventry City.

Yup, it's not strange if this is Chelsea especially the last few seasons they have always been like this in unloading pairs of players Cheesy

Liam Delap didn't contribute anything during his time at Chelsea and this season with Joao Pedro improving a bit of course his chances in attack will be difficult and the only thing he can do is leave.
Last season he played in 28 Premier League matches and only 1 goal he managed to score but 45 million is not bad for the size of the player who flop especially if I'm not wrong Chelsea only spent 30 million to Ipswich last season so this is an advantage if there is a club that dares to bring Delap at a higher price.

He is still very young and a club of Chelsea's calibre will certainly be difficult to compete with but for Nottingham he will get plenty of opportunities to improve his form.

Nottingham seems to have faith in Delap. After paying so much money for him, they should have expectations. For Chelsea, if they manage to complete this transfer, I think it would be a very good sale. Because after a period of poor performance, a sale for Delap would be considered a transfer success for Chelsea. He's 23 years old and seems to have a bright future, but he needs a team where he can truly shine. Perhaps Nottingham believes they can sell him for even more money in the future. That's why they might have been convinced to pay so much.
It is not about faith, they don’t have to make reference to what the player experience at Chelsea, they know him form his days of Leeds United, he was very good, so there is a possibility that Chelsea was too big for him, and the team wasn’t in good form which can also affect his performance because they couldn’t provide him with much passes and they also don’t usually give him more playing time.

I think he can perform better in Nottingham Forest, he will have playing time, and will probably do well again since there will be no much expectation from him. He is a good signing for them and I wish him well.

Yes, the move to Nottingham Forest was a golden chance of showing his hitherto impaired finishing skills. Enhanced ball circulation and being the centre of interest in attacking the opponents led to a fire on the ground by the young striker.

The successful delivery of this high profile transfer gave the former management financial fulfillment after some sub optimal performance. Having plenty of time to play guaranteed progress in terms of his game development and opened the way to further professional opportunities.

That's why they might have been convinced to pay so much.

we can't really say or estimate what Nottingham sees In delap to be willing to pay for this guy such a huge amount of money at a time like this. This is quite impressive how the Chelsea manage to sell delap to Nottingham. Delap will do well if he sees support from his new team. He should also work hand in hand with his new club for him to be able to meet up with the system and pattern of his new club.
He is young and energetic and performing well at this new club

For Chelsea, he didn't meet the standards that was why he needed to be sold, well not all players perform well in a big club cause of the pressure, we all saw how Delap failed to meet up, hee didn't even do close to what he was expected of that's why he needed to leave but things could change if he successfully signs for Nottingham Forest.
Chelsea really know how to do business, selling some that underperformed for £45m is good business, whoever made that deal possible is a genius at negotiation. Maybe Nottingham think they can help him recover his form use him for one or two seasons then make lots of money from his sale in future like they did with Elliot Anderson.

🚨🔵⚪️ Al Hilal are getting closer to Gabriel Martinelli deal done after club to club talks with Arsenal at final stages.

Fee around £50/55m discussed and #AFC prepared to accept and sell Martinelli.

Talks on personal terms ongoing, Gabriel to make final decision soon. 🇧🇷
Martinelli is simply one of the many players that didn't keep up with the expectations. If I'm wrong Jurgen Klopp once said "Martinelli is the talent of the century", that happened when he was very young, like 18-19 years old, now he is 25 years old and I don't see any particular improvement. And he had plenty of opportunities. It's the best choice for both parties.

I really think that this deal is good for all parties involved.  Arsenal wants to move on from Martinelli , which dey finally and even getting their highest money in sale of a player, AL Hilal got the players they wanted and Martinelli final moves to a club where he will definitely get more playing time,  so i think it's a win win situation for all parties involve..
On Martinelli moving I think Arsenal really need to move on from him, because I believe that the level of Arsenal project, they don't need him anymore.  I will only get worried for Arsenal if they don't bring a better replacement before the end of the transfer window, because that is definitely going to make them short of players for the left wing position, but if they bring a replacement,  then it's very a good one for the club.
I don't understand, you said they doesn't need him, at same time saying they should get his replacement or they will lack in that left win position, to me Martinelli is still very much active and to be left out just like that, now the question is what if they fail to bring in a better replacement for him before the end of the transfer window, can they really cope? Yes it's a win win for the both parties, but let it don't be like one party will laugh at last while one regret, you know sometimes money can actually make you take the wrong decision, anyway let's see how they go with it.

Nothing beats the Spain midfield, its  a solid aspect of Spain national team and that's what Barcelona is also after, build that same impenetrable midfield for every match. Pedri + Rodri + Olmo is a perfect combo , only Fermin and Olmo needs to attack, the remaining two will always hold their ground supporting the remaining 4 defenders  Wink.  They are considering ore of attacking so the perfect way to solid defence (since its one of their major problem) is adding rodri to the existing squad. I hope everything works out

The person that initiated the deal is a genius only if Delap does not perform well for Nottingham Forest, because I know delap is a good player but it's just so unfortunate that he didn't fit into the Chelsea style of play. Funny thing is that he is not the first player to have this sort of downplay and then later turn out to be something else in the club where he was sold to.

After Tielemans and Andrey Santos made their first debut appearance in the last match between Manchester United and Hull city, where the match ended on 2:0 goals, Manchester United really need a more young and demanding defense squad even though their already got the two men in the club.

Carlos Baleba being 22 years can bring in the impacts that Manchester United needed to create the expected range of results needed to bring back on their feet for this season, he can be the midfielder defending conductor and provide success assit thlonthe other team members penetrating the line in most matches.

We call it misplace priority. Midfield is not Manchester united problem at the moment. They have Maino, they have Bruno and they also Tieleman. It's not a bad idea to have more back up players in every position but it is important to focus on areas that deserve urgent attention. They have gotten the young boy in addition to their squad. I look forward to seeing how he use these players and who he'll bench for whom.

Attack is where Manchester united should channel their energy to now because that's where the problem is but I don't know if they are not seeing it. I don't expect much from them if there options are Sesko, Mbuemo, Rashford and Cunha. I can't imagine how horrible things will be for them this season with what they have available to handle their striking role.

I agree with you and check very well on how Manchester United operated in their last game something is off in that team, the attacking department seems to be weak and this is not the time to say we have to give a particular player time to get use to the season, no, UTD have so much to show base on how well they finished last season and it will be bad that this weak performance will be the reason why the manager will be replaced. Getting this player doesn't add anything productive to the team, is like inviting a friend to come and stay over just because you saw others inviting their friends. That defense line is another problem they have been suffering for long, I honestly don't know what's up with the general Maguire, he's not acting as a leader, infact some of the old players need to be replaced. For now the Red Devils have 3 new players in that midfield including the new guy Baleba and we haven't added Mount in the mix so this transfer seems pointless.

I don’t know how Barcelona were able to convince this player to join them after agreeing to join Real Madrid initially, but I will say this is the one of the best transfers Barcelona has done in recent times. Rodri is still playing active football and not like he’s going to become well or worn out anytime soon. With the players he’s meeting at Barcelona, they’ll form a very great and wonderful team that everyone will want to reckon on. Barcelona knows what they want and they know how they can go about it to get it won to their own favour. They now have a complete and competent team to fight in the La Liga and the champions league, we shall get to see how they’ll come up with the best of performance soon.
