The way the player accept Manchester City without considering higher or lower pay was because he wanted to leave Chelsea, that was the best option he has at that time and he make the move.

yes they didn't realize the potential of this player and only realized it later when the damage was already done, i believe that Manchester City has an infallible scouting system that allows them to have full awareness of what they do and always manages to find excellent players
I think fans could be the ones getting it all wrong because I see this transfer market as another business strategy. Chelsea understands the value of Enzo Fernandez to some extent which was why they were able to insist on a record transfer fee of £125 million which is a good business. You can talk about a bad deal or a team believing that a player no longer has any more value like the case of Former Manchester United player Antony who was signed for €95 million and sold for €25 million. That's a clear definition of how it looks when a team doesn't trust the abilities of their player.

It's all business and I don't see Chelsea as doing anything they will regret because they will always find a way around situations like this and having signed Morgan Rogers for a cheaper amount for me is a good deal. Morgan Rogers seems to be more effective to Chelsea than Enzo Fernandez stay in Chelsea. Check it out, Morgan Rogers already has 3 league goals and 1 assist in 5 premier league appearances for Chelsea while Enzo Fernandez has 1 goal in 3 appearances for Manchester city and it's not a bad replacement which is also cheaper for Chelsea.

Enzo was Chelsea manager for over 3 years and his contribution was satisfactory.
Uh! Who has been in Chelsea for over 3 years, Enzo Maresca or Enzo Fernandez? I think you're getting it all twisted here, Enzo Maresca managed Chelsea just for 18 months—half of the 3 years you're saying. Meanwhile, Fernandez played for over 3 years (3 years and 6 months), so please, get your facts right.

It is only a matter of imagination how much better he could have taken the team if he had been in charge of the team.
Well, I agree with you 100% on this. If only Chelsea's board gave him more autonomy and control, and hadn't interfered too much as they did, he would've even brought in more trophies to the club. I mean, he won 2 international cups for the club, so I really believed in him.

I blame the club's management for his bad performance.

I’ve always known Chelsea will have a lot of issue getting back on track since they started changing managers aand buying so much players, didn’t know they were selling so much as well..
It could be that it's bad management, they buy young players who don't get into the senior team for what does this? This is like memecoin which will skyrocket after players are bought 20 years and above.

I heard they posted a picture of his celebration and eventually deleted later because of England supporters, they also deleted the post about him reaching the finals. Still don’t understand why.. he’s a Chelsea player so there’s nothing wrong with it .
It's a natural thing for Enzo to celebrate but the England supporters certainly didn't like it, however bad he had intended it to be and in the end Chelsea couldn't defend.

I guess that’s why he really wanted to go to Spain initially..
Is that so? I hope he won't go to Spain.

I don't think Enzo Fernandez's behavior should surprise anyone because he did exactly the same thing with Benfica back in 2022/23, when he told the Portuguese club he didn't want to play anymore for them because he wanted to join Chelsea. And let's not forget Benfica had bought him only 6 months before. He has absolutely no attachment or respect for any club, I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years he'll break his relationship with City too because he'll want to join Real Madrid or Barcelona.

I agree with your assessment of this player, but the idea of him joining Real Madrid or Barcelona is pure fantasy. Real has standards. They don't need another "volatile" player, even if Enzo performs at a high level. He can only get to Barcelona as a free agent or on loan (same meaning) - they are ready to take any cheap option. It seems to me that the next couple of years will be smooth sailing for City (unless, of course, the League suddenly remembers it needs to issue a ruling on the 115 alleged violations), so Fernández will play for City without any issues.

Enzo Fernandes and Morgan Rogers are different set of players and they both offer different levels and styles of play. They are both midfielders but Enzo is more of a central midfielder who plays in a more deeper role with ball distribution and providing some defensive cover to the midfield. Rogers plays in a more advanced midfield role focusing more on attacking and progression going forward. Now both of them are very good in their respective positions and just imagined if the both of them are now playing together at Chelsea combining their strengths and skills, don’t you think it would have improved the team more than the level it is now. It was a bad business selling Enzo to Man City their direct rivals without getting a better replacement because as far as I’m concerned Morgan Roger is not Enzo’s Replacement.

The obvious truth is that Real Madrid was interested in signing Enzo Fernandez but they never wanted to pay whatsoever amount of money Chelsea was demanding, Recently Real Madrid have an attitude of taking players for free, by telling them not to renew contracts with their clubs, but Enzo proved difficult because of the number of years left in his contract, Real Madrid aren’t going to wait that long for him, they not wanting to pay what Chelsea is demanding was the problem, Enzo Fernandez literally said Real Madrid is his dream club, which means they had some talks with his agent who is Javier Pastore.

Manchester City have a very good squad its good for them, they’ve invested so much money in this transfer window alone in the Midfield, which is a long term plans for the Club, they have invested well enough in the squad this season after Rodri and so many other midfielders left the club, nevertheless other teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal also have a good team and they’re all investing for the future, so nobody knows the future of this teams, but they all looks like teams that would have a grate future.

As for the 115 count charge of Manchester City, the English FA and the Premier League, knows when they’re going to give their verdict, the sooner the verdict the better for everyone Involved.

That was not really the case here, Enzo Maresca was controlling his squad, there was no interference from the management. Anyone who told you that is misleading you. According to the information made available to the public, Enzo Maresca said he saw an opportunity to go back to Manchester City, a club that he has always wanted to manage, having being part of the history makers when they won the treble. So he seized the opportunity when City came calling. That was what made him to resign as Chelsea manager. He never for once said that the management interference with his job made him to resign.

Chelsea did the best thing by letting Enzo Fernandes go. You can’t keep a player which is not happy playing for your team, since he wanted to go, then they should allow him. I really respected Chelsea for what they did, and what’s really affecting Chelsea now is that they couldn’t get Lamine Camara, that was the player which they wanted to use and replace Enzo Fernandez, but Monaco canceled the deal which is what’s really happening right now. If a player wants to leave, and you forced the player to stay, then you shouldn’t even expect any good performance from the player.

I don't think that Enzo Fernandez didn't want to play for Chelsea, but since there was talk of a possible interest from Real Madrid, he started to leak the fact that he would like to move away from Chelsea.

Then when that proposed interest from Real Madrid did not arrive, but that of City did, his idea did not change and therefore he took the idea of moving to Manchester.

Hehehe  Roll Eyes Did you really say "obvious"?
Here is Real Madrid's official statement on the matter:

Quote
In light of the information and statements that have emerged in recent days regarding an alleged interest from Real Madrid C. F. in the player Enzo Fernández, the club wishes to state that it has not made any efforts, either directly or indirectly, aimed at signing the aforementioned player and, furthermore, has no intention of pursuing such an operation.

Real Madrid wishes to express its utmost respect for Enzo Fernández, a great footballer whose career and quality are widely recognized, as well as for Chelsea FC, a club with which it maintains an excellent institutional relationship.

Precisely out of respect for an institution like Chelsea FC and the principles of institutional loyalty that have always guided Real Madrid's actions, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny these speculations, which are unfounded and do not reflect reality.

Real Madrid regrets that, despite the clarity of the facts and the absence of any action by the club, information continues to be disseminated that does not correspond to reality and only serves to create confusion among fans and unnecessarily harm the entities and individuals involved.
https://www.realmadrid.com/en-US/news/club/announcements/comunicado-oficial-03-07-2026

To me, this seems like a far more obvious truth than the "leaks" (which they invent themselves) from scumbag journalists, or the false information from players' agents spread to gain leverage in negotiations. I’m glad that, in this instance, Real refused to tolerate those leeching off its name and issued an official statement that likely dealt a real kick in the balls to unscrupulous journalists and schemers.
It's a shame you missed that and kept believing some made-up nonsense  Wink

I don't think that Enzo Fernandez didn't want to play for Chelsea, but since there was talk of a possible interest from Real Madrid, he started to leak the fact that he would like to move away from Chelsea.

In my opinion, Enzo Fernández wanted to join Real Madrid, but for some reason the deal fell through, perhaps because of the risk of a clash with Valverde, given that they play in almost the same position. Then, at Chelsea, there must be a great deal of confusion, with constant changes in ownership and the signing of large numbers of players, which creates unnecessary competition that benefits no one and in the end, they don’t win.

From your statement, I agree that the premier league is now focused on business instead of the good football we use to know. Players no longer reside in a club for years, we now see players move from club to club every season all in the name of business.

Chelsea sold Enzo Fernandez for €125m which is a fair price, but they're currently 10th in the table after all the profit. It is an insult comparing any player in Chelsea with Enzo Fernandez.  Enzo Fernandez carried Chelsea for years, he has been the key player for years. Rogers is nowhere close to Enzo Fernandez, besides, both players don't play in the same position, so your stats means nothing. Enzo plays more in a defensive role and goes forward at times, while Morgan Rogers plays as an attacker, so you can't compare them. From the look of things, Chelsea lack a good player to cover that defensive role, that's where Enzo Fernandez absence is felt.

Well, I agree with you 100% on this. If only Chelsea's board gave him more autonomy and control, and hadn't interfered too much as they did, he would've even brought in more trophies to the club. I mean, he won 2 international cups for the club, so I really believed in him.
That was not really the case here, Enzo Maresca was controlling his squad, there was no interference from the management. Anyone who told you that is misleading you.
Before making any bold claim, where is your proof backing up this statement? Anyway, here is what ESPN wrote.

Quote from: ESPN
Maresca brought six members of staff with him from Leicester, but club sources have told ESPN that Chelsea made it clear the head coach would not be in sole charge of picking players, controlling the medical department (more on that later) or steering recruitment.

Sources have told ESPN that over time, Maresca began to grow frustrated with the level of input from outside his personal support staff. Club sources suggest the 45-year-old believed he had earned the right to a larger say as a result of the success he had delivered, finishing the 2024-25 season by qualifying for the Champions League and winning the Conference League.

But Chelsea remained adamant: Their structure was immovable, and so Maresca began to take his irritations public. He voiced his frustration at the club's refusal to sign a center back in August following a potentially season-ending knee injury to Levi Colwill. Then, in December, Maresca effectively started the countdown to his exit by publicly declaring the buildup to Chelsea's 2-0 win over Everton was the "worst 48 hours" he had endured at Chelsea.

The comments shocked members of his own staff, and one source suggested Maresca's agent, Jorge Mendes, rang the club in search of an explanation. By refusing to elaborate or explain at subsequent news conferences, speculation ran wild and instability engulfed the club. Within 19 days, the club announced Maresca was gone.
(Source)

Quote from: sky sports
There were many stories about Maresca being unhappy at Chelsea, but the truth is he wanted to go to City.

The relationship with the club fractured as time went on, with poor form, public outbursts to the media and disagreements with the medical staff putting increasing strain on the environment at the club.

After the 2-0 home victory over Everton in mid-December, Maresca stunned reporters by saying he had endured his "worst 48 hours" at the club and said "many people didn't support us".

He then declined several opportunities to expand on his comments.
(Source)

These statements clearly show that he had less control and autonomy in the club to the point he aired it out in public.

Um... before we go into the theatrics of why he left the club; I didn't say anything about that in the first place, I only made a comment about why he performed badly.

I blame the club's management for his bad performance.

The above is exactly what I said.

But, let's talk about his leaving. I can't say for sure this or that led him to leave, but the dissatisfaction he felt from the club's management gave him an extra reason and justification to terminate the contract mid-season and take up the City's job.

Remember the time Chelsea signed a whole bunch of players they didn't actually need? I think they eventually had to release them one by one and I don't thimk Enzo stay would have changed much of how the club is performing.
I think for Chelsea to get back on track, they need a new owner who actually loves the sport just like Roman Abramovitch used to love it. Things have never been the same for them in the league since that guy left.

Chelsea was coming off a truly unsuccessful season, so the club decided to make a lot of extremely expensive, but completely inefficient, signings. In fact, the arrival of Maresca was used to ensure that the squad was halved in number, because there were so many of them and above all many were useless for the type of game the coach needed. We will now see if these improvements will really bear fruit, let's give them time.

While some club focus more on business their are clubs that still ensure that their team perform well on the pitch, for instant Arsenal and Manchester City and some few midtable clubs that suprisingly perform well even with the kind of players in the team. Teams like Chelsea and Manchester United are more into business lately. The difference is that Chelsea does good business in terms of selling their players for a good anount but Manchester United is poor at that.

My dear, you're totally right about Enzo Fernandez, he's a player Chelsea would miss so much although there's nothing they would've done to keep him. I see no reason why Rogers and Enzo should be compared they're both doing well in their various positions but when it comes to personal stats and achievements, Enzo Fernandez is better.

The Premier League has probably undergone a change, and I certainly understand the business aspect that every team faces at the moment, it is difficult for a club to survive without a successful model of buying and selling players. Ideally a club blends high quality play as well as top class talent with a thriving player sales business. On the other hand, some clubs realize that winning the title is a tough challenge, they still try to stay competitive in the midst of fierce competition. Current trends suggest that after successful business operations, the formation of a formidable army can be achieved provided that financial conditions remain stable. However, money alone is not enough to build a squad, factors such as the coaching staff, club management and the players themselves all play an important role in making it happen.

Professional footballers aren't driven by emotion the way you & I might be. They need money to make living. It is natural for them to go wherever payment is best.

At Benfica, Enzo earned approximately £41k-£80k per week which amount to around £2.5 million annually. Benfica had spent very little to acquire him initially but received nearly £130 million from Chelsea. Undoubtedly a massive sum. Both Enzo and Benfica benefited from that deal.

By selling Fernández for £125 million Chelsea did not incur any loss at least. Meanwhile at City, Enzo’s weekly wages are £350000, amounting to an annual salary of roughly £18.2 million. He will be earning nearly double what he made at Chelsea. presumably, Chelsea wasn't keen on raising his pay which is why he moved to City.

This is common occurrence for professional footballer. He didn't join club out of loyalty. he came to play well and earn money. If he receives better offer down the line then he might well leave City too.

Mmm I'm not sure Real Madrid have any kind of standards anymore, look at the kind of players they've been buying in the last years: a bunch of spoiled kids who fight each other. After players like Ramos, Modric, Kroos and Benzema all these problems surfaced all at once. Is it a coincidence? I don't think so. Personally I really dislike Real Madrid's squad, more for the kind of people they are rather than the value of the players.

You might as well bring up Sir Bobby Charlton or someone from even further back Wink What you don't like (as do I) can equally be applied to any other club (especially at the top) since they are literally a crowd of millionaires with huge egos. And this, by the way, is a problem not just for sports, but for the modern world in general. There might be a few exceptions here and there, but that’s the general picture. The fact that every player at Real Madrid is under close scrutiny, plus journalists inventing scandals that don't even exist, are additional factors. All of this overshadows the presence of such unassuming, level-headed players as Güler and Bellingham.

There was a popular saying among football fans that PSG began to win European titles because they allowed some of its big-headed players to leave. When players are more focused on winning personal awards than supporting the team to win trophies, there are always distractions. I thought Vinicius Júnior would have left the club during the summer transfer window. It would have been easier for Mourinho to manage Mbappé without the Brazilian. Now some fans believe that, unless one player between Mbappé and Vinícius leaves, Real Madrid might not regain its past glory.

Will you guys like to see Amorim to stay or him to be replaced by Conte?

From the 5 matches at the start of this season, AC Milan hasn't lost a single time in Serie A.. I don't think such a record can be considered a bad start for Amorim.. we could even say his project at AC Milan is quite suitable, with the tactics he currently has still fitting with AC Milan's playstyle, which wants to play more dominantly and press high. So with that, Amorim should still get the chance to lead his project at AC Milan.

Even looking at Manchester United's situation right now, it makes more sense for Conte to replace Carrick.. although it is still just a rumor, it seems the Man United management is already getting tired of the team's drop in performance at the start of this season and has given Carrick a warning to improve their performance.
