Why is BQC preferred as the currency symbol for BBQcoins?  I would much prefer BBQ. Smiley  But I was curious if there had been any prior discussion.

I just go with what the original developer named it and what's built into the client. I would like to see BBQ and the symbol as well though.

BQC is stupid because it is totally not intuitive that it has anything to do with BBQ as in BBQcoins.

BBQ on the other hand is recognised pretty much anywhere in the English-speaking / ENglish-reading world as being BBQ as in Barbeque as in Barbequecoins as in BBQcoins.

It is just stupid to artificially obscure the ticker symbol to make it not immediately recognisable as relating to BBQcoins.

It also blocks the stupid, not at a glance related symbol from use by Black Queen Coins or Block Quorum Coins or whatever one day comes along that has a much more intuitive relation to the symbol BQC while still also blocking the really obvious and immediately visible as related to BBQcoins symbol BBQ because as long as BBQcoins exist anything else trying to use that symbol is already going to get confused with BBQcoins.

The problem starts right at the very name of the coin/program, for example its daemon is not bqcoind, nor is it barbequecoind, it is bbqcoind.

Maybe if the real key part is BQ it should be called XBQ ...

I think I remember eating a little BQC at our last rock-n-ribs festival. Yum.

I prefer BBQ but tend to follow http://newbitcoins.com/ - perhaps have it changed there.

Even the principal websites for the coin are using bbq - eg http://www.bbqcoin.com/
