I think LTC is very promising given it's scrypt implementation and distribution of coins. I think if invested wisely there is a lot of promise there.

Thoughts?

Really don't believe in LTC. I think we shouldn't divide forces. Lets make BTC rule them all.

We're all on Team Crytocoin.  Our adversary is Team Fiat.

Satoshi is our coach; Bernanke is their's.

Bitcoin is our team's star quarterback.  Litecoin is the rookie showing potential and ready to get off the bench.

I kind of have the same line of thought, but the faster conformations is a nice feature at least.

I've been mining LTC lately because it's more profitable when converting it to BTC, although that's starting to change now it seems. Sad

LTC is definitely growing in popularity along side Bitcoin. I would imagine if there was a boom in Bitcoin there would be a lesser boom in LTC.

Not easy buying LTC at the moment, BTC-E not looking like a very stable and secure platform.

Bitcoin can be bad for your chi. Improve yours and mine by sending BTC to: 1N1zRYSwKQbZ8Kx1bKvTskrjGMNynVFEr1

Hmmm over 5 hrs and 5 posts and still cant reply on other boards.

i dont think anyone heavily invested in BTC can afford to not hedge against LTC. For that reason alone its probably going to rise. Add onto that the mtgox speculation and ASICs about to take over BTC mining...

Its worth splitting your investment. Eg
1/4 LTC
3/4 BTC

I bet there's going to be a "Is BTC going the way of the Napster" story in the mass media this summer, when they are bored and want some good "rise and fall" story. Then whichever alt is the most fashionable will be mentioned a lot.

Yeah who knows where the crypto currencies will go - a year from now bitcoin could be extinct, supplanted by litecoin or some other currency. Regardless of the flavour though, I think crypto currencies are definitely on the rise long-term.

As I have been saying for a long time now the real issue is which crypto currency gets a major deal first, with VISA, etc. Now that Paypal is finally looking into it (for BTC) this could be the thing that drives the price up farther than we've ever seen.

litecoin seems to trade pretty much like btc.  It doesn't seem to have any personality of its own. Hopefully it will get a boost when it is on mtgox soon but we'll see.

This. The algorithm may be different, but the people hoarding it are the same. They aren't going to push LTC if it sabotages BTC, nor the other way around.

LTC is the same as BTC with another algorhithm.

It is pretty much resistant to contemporary miner designs, which makes it a "people's choice" kind of.

Competition is good. The apps look the same and theoretically, a combined wallet software could store all kinds of different cryptocoins. It isn't that hard. Just as you would pay with dollar, Euro or Yen, you could probably decide to pay in whatever currency you want, as long as the same basic transaction mechanisms are kept similar.
