I'm on an 457 temporary work visa living in Australia and need to get verified by Mtgox.

Here's the problem - my passport has my UK address, my drivers license has my UK address, my utility bill has an Australian address as does my bank account from which I'd send my money to Mtgox.

How am I supposed to get verified at level 1 or 2 if mtgox want photo ID with my current address. Do you think they'd accept a letter from Aus immigration confirming my status and its tie to my passport.

Admittedly, its probably a hard one to answer and I've had no response from MTgox support for 2 days (but that seems about right for them).

Also, is there any 457 visa holders here who have bitcoins and are they considered offshore earnings and therefore tax exempt (as is the case for offshore earnings under 457 visa). Another difficult question I know..

Looking at trading with $20K so need the liquidity and volume of a larger exchange..

You may send your Australian DL instead of passport.

But you probably don't need Gox to trade $20k. Just make WTB post in Currency Exchange and buy/sell it via escrow from other people here.

Dont have an aussie DL, just UK (don't want points).

I want the buy and sell functions of an exchange to take advantage of the crazy swings in price week to week while bitcoin is still young. From the practise run I did just today (tracking where I would have bought and sold) my $20K would be $2.25K better off.

HOWEVER (big however), I'm still not sure of just how bad the trading execution lag is on the mtgox site and whether that sabotages the gains (even though I didn't sell at the absolute top or buy at the absolute bottom). I hear its shocking (nothing like etrade milliseconds). Any thoughts?

If I'm reading that right does that mean if I sold at $132, I'd get price that was 3.554298 seconds later?
