I'm getting a laptop to just use for staking. I'll hopfully eventually move to Linux when I learn more.

But for now would Windows 7 or Windows 10 be better?

Thanks

Win7 x64 with some tweaks, not even a question to me.

Thank you. Can you explain why? Smiley

It's solid, especially if you disable uneccessary scheduled tasks and windows updates. With win10 you can hardly disable windows updates completely and telemetry that might screw things up.

Just my two cents though, wait for others' opinion though.

Win10 has some annoying options as mentioned by above member. There are some pretty annoying updates I have had to deal with. Anyway I have never had any problems with win 19 aside from that and the horrible never ending spinning circle but I think that was a failed HDD. I have used win19 to stake dozens of coins and it works just fine. Besides win7 might update to win10 by itself like it did to me.

For most staking coins you don't need to have the wallet on but for a few hours every couple days for it to collect stake.  You get no more or less stake either way.  Having it on 24 hours a day does nothing but support the network
