Cue the usual suspects whining about how Wired is now shilling for BFL because they were sent a $300 device to review.

It wasn't the most flattering article. He mentioned the delays and 1000s of backordered units, but I didn't see any mention of how much cash it generates. I can't see it pushing too many new sales.

Whether they will be able to obtain this number eventually remains to be seen, but for now they are still failing big time. I'd go so far as to wager that the Avalon chips I'm ordering through a group buy (that haven't even been ordered yet) will be made into an ASIC and hashing in my possession before any BFL order that was made this month. If anyone wants to take me up on this bet, let me know! I like free money!  |

If you've got a Raspberry Pi controlling it, then that doesn't add much where power consumption is concerned. But I feel like most people won't be using a Raspberry Pi or anything of that sort... |

The problem with your comparison is the computer is already inside the Avalon chewing power, whereas with the BFL you can choose what type of computer you connect to, and you can run multiple BFL units off the one computer as confirmed by the author of cgminer. I seem to recall my old Lenovo s10e netbook using about 14watts, it could probably run several BFL units. |

Nope this is not a regular order. this is one they've set aside for review. When did you order yours? I find the following hard to believe that RM is a serious contributor to Wire. So most of the people who shelled out the $274 it costs for one of these systems back in June are still waiting. And they’re mad. And, just in time for locust season! Ain't that right Utah? Meanwhile, Butterfly Labs is nowhere near full production capacity. The company says that its systems will continue to trickle out, with another 75 to 150 shipping in the next few weeks. And, WTF! In the meantime, if you have an questions about the Butterfly Labs machine, send us an email. There's a comment section beneath the article of which they read and respond to. Butterfly says it has thousands of orders on the books, but to date, it has only delivered 35 to 40 of them, according to Josh Zerlan, chief operating officer of Butterfly Labs. Let's do the math: 75 to 150 shipping in the next few weeks with thousands of orders on the books; divide, carry the 1... or is it 2?... Fuck it! Somebody else do it, for my dick's getting hard just looking at it. |
