Hey,

I bought btc via transferwise, sent it to bit stamp etc. and it was all going good - decided I wanted to add more money and transferwise are now saying they don't allow sending payments regarding bitcoins etc.  :/ Sad

Can anyone help me buy LTC + BTC from UK

Any other sites like transferwise etc. that dont require proving yourself with documents etc.?

TY Smiley

or anyone selling BTC-E codes ? Cheesy

It's really sad that us peeps in the UK have so few options to buy bitcoins.  I thought I would turn to mining to fix this, but now the people making mining kit require you to buy in bitcoins.  Very disappointing really.

Come on Max Keiser, build us an exchange!

It's crazy how hard it is to trade GBP for BTC/LTC.

The amount of hoops you have to jump through for the FSA recognise you as a legitimate exchange must be crazy.

BUT The first entity to work this out will make a lot of money!

I used local bitcoin with no problem. It is easy.
You choose a seller and transfer the money to their UK account. Be warned, an internet bank transfer can take about two minute, two hours or doesn't happen until the next working day. It is a bit random, so don't get paranoid. The seller has to have the bitcoins in their wallet and they are held in escrow by the site so that any disputes can be adjudicated.
I don't think there are many disputes.  The sellers just want to earn their percentage and many of them have hundreds of sales and loads of feedback and post their phone numbers. If you take the fees into account the rates are often the same as you would get at mtgox.

So from start to finish, how long typically does it take to get your bitcoins?

Thanks for the replies guys!
I managed to get more by using this method - feel free to try it but it again ends up costing you more due to fee's etc.

Sign up at Virwox.com

Add funds (limited to £48 a day)
Buy SLL with your £
Now you have SLL you can sell this for BTC and withdraw it to where you like!

Enjoy! Smiley

You could try looking for sellers on localbitcoins/ebay who accept Barclays Pingit/bank transfer as payment. A lot safer than using Paypal

All you need to do is get your funds in one account to buy BTC and then you can fund all your other accts with BTC.  That's what I did and started with Gox and the funded BTC-e, CampBx, and Bitstamp.

from all the dealings i've been reading about in reddit, localbitcoins requires vigilance and caution. you can definitely meet people and work out a trade, but i've read a bunch of stories about people getting ripped off.

i'm in the uk, and the situation is really annoying. in my case, i have american accounts so i do all the btc stuff that way. but it's super annoying.

The way I do it is this:
Get a OKPAY account and got it verified.
Upload GBP to my wallet, via back transfer. (My bank does not charge for this, since it's sent to a UK bank, Barclays)
Then use BTC-e to withdrew the money from OKPAY.
Buy litecoin or bitcoins.

A LOT of HOOPS :-(

Buy bitcoin(s) at BTC-e and sell at Bitstamp!

okpay says bitcoin processing is suspended though?  Or is using BTC-e something different?

Ah ok, how? Smiley  Is it a SEPA transfer you do initiated from okpay?  Does okpay do an FX from GBP to EUR in that case?

btc-e says: The presently supported payment methods are : US Bank Wire, EU Bank Wire (SEPA), Liberty Reserve, Visa, Mastercard, Liqpay.com, unikarta.com, PerfectMoney.com, WebCreds.com, Ukash.com, Webmoney.ru.

To fund your BTC-e account select USD -> deposit
Then select your payment method -> OKPAY
Log in, select your wallet (GBP) OKPAY will convert to USD for you.

That's it.

That's great, thanks.

Does anyone worry about identity theft with all these sites needing copies of passports, etc.?

As I said, when you do the bank transfer it can be almost instant, take a couple of hours or be there by the next working day. The banks t& c's allow for end of next working day. Most of my bitcoins were transferred within 5 minutes of me making the bank transfer.
Two transactions took until the next day. The sellers average times are published on the site. Most of the sellers work on their mobiles. I bought over 10k GBP.
I really don't understand why there is a problem with this service. Use somebody who has plenty  of transactions and lots of feedback. It is an escrow service. The bit coins are held by the website until both parties are happy.
