They take the money and run
They buy gold they control it and run with it later.
They never buy gold but show you a nice picture of it.
etc.
Only safe way for this to work is to have a know gold depository hold the
gold outside the control or ownership of the dev. team. Gold purchase
through an escrow with full transparency.
