Which reliable company provides the cheapest VPS? I need to download the whole blockchain for my thesis in university and I don't need SSD or other fancy stuffs. Anyone can give advice?

At amazon you can do it for free with AWS Educate, you'll get $100 credit on a VPS. You just need 2 cpu core and 4gb of memory and a linux core.

Are you sure?

To be able to store the blockchain I will need at least 120 GB storage. Digitalocean provides 160 GB VPS for 160$. Certainly It's not for students.

I searched for a lot less. But I did not find it at a fixed price anywhere. Amazon and Digital Ocean withdraws money for use on the basis of resources. It will be much more expensive than $ 20 a month per bitcoin node.

I am use Hostsailor accept BTC. I never see cheapest solution for BTC ful node. One month about 20$. OpenVZ based 4GB RAM/120 GB HDD/E31240 3.30GHz. Good quality support.

If you know better, let me know. Wink

I used hostsailor at one point for some testing on projects. They do have good prices and support, however, I've had problems with them and DDOS attacks on their own environment (not my vps servers) which led to intermittent outages.

I will say that OP is better off running the blockchain storage on SSD storage. I ran bitcoind on non-ssd storage on VPS and it was painful at times, 2 core and 4gb is a must on v0.14 otherwise you'll see poor performance and issues.

Yes, may (on 0.14) support node in pruning mode and this also good support for network. Better solution if you have server with white external IPv4 at home but not anyone may have it.

Buy your cheapest virtual private server ar arubacloud.com for only 1$ per month. I have used their vps for a long time and must say I am satisfied with their service. I check my vps 2-3 times per week and never find a single problem.
