I'm currently considering making a investment that requires bitcoin as payment of around 15K and looking for any advice.
I've tried searching search engines with no success.
Anyone know if there are smart contracts or any type of receipt or anything else I should request or anything else to cover my investment?
Or, no luck and it's a big risk.
Any advice would be much appreciated

Im not an expert in crazy financial instruments like smart or stupid contracts.
Just buy bitcoins for 15 K and invest it in whatever you want. Simplier? Yeah Tongue
Bitcoin doesn't have smart contracts from what i know.

Perhaps something in contract saying that the receipt of NNN bitcoins at address 1XXX indicates a completed payment. Then once you have sent the bitcoins, if there is any dispute about payment, you can prove payment by referring to the transaction in the block chain.

IANAL

Is that 15K bitcoins, or 15k USD worth of Bitcoin? Huge difference..

Question sounds kind of trolly tho..

This time it's different.

The blockchain holds a record of all payments so you will have evidence that you sent the coins to the other party.

However, you have no guarantee that the other party will hold up their end of the deal. I'm not sure what type of "investment" you are planning on doing but I would be careful and make sure you do your research to avoid getting scammed.

Bitcoin is lacking smart contracts, which means you can't force the other side to make payment or deliver the service. Once you send money it's over for you, you can only wait for them to fulfil their part of the deal. Did you consider escrow? You send money to a trusted third party, accepted by the contractor, that will keep it safe until your the contractor delivers. You could also agree to divide the money into a number of smaller payments released over time.

I agree that if you're sending first without any escrow or collateral the risk is big.

there is no smart contracts in bitcoin, not yet anyways but they are coming soon. for your investment you need a regular contract if that is a real business that you know and know their location. 15K is big enough for you to demand a decent contract. and from this point on there is nothing bitcoin related but you need to consult a lawyer or professional for the contract.

It's not that easy there other overheads. Electricity costs and cost to replace a miner that fails. You need an area to set it up and keep it cool and running well. Then the time it takes to get the miner to your house is costing you for everyday you wait. You can also use your miner to heat up a cold room if you from s cold country. In that way you can get more out of it and squeeze extra profits you save bit using a heater. It's a great idea.

As was said, you can buy Bitcoins and just hold it, you will see your money growing on medium-long term.

Or you can invest at casino bankrolls. You have $15.000, so it's better to split this amount among few good casino sites (maybe 5). Or you can invest half of that amount and hold the rest. Good luck with your investment, if you do it safely I can say the risks are very low.

Or I misunderstand your question.
yes that is the same thing I want to tell op "public ledger holds all receipts". So for any transactions you have or investment you want to make and you need receipt just used the receipt or proof of payment from public ledger were every one can verify your payment or investment.
