Hi.

I'm having a problem with my wallet om my mac. When I try to start the program, Bitcoin-Qt, it shows me an error "Bitcoin-Qt: Failed to read block" and then crashes. This happens everytime I open the wallet, making my bitcoins stuck inside..

Anyone knows what could be the reason? And how to fix it? Smiley

Thanks,
Dymix.

Update:
In case it could help, I've managed to locate a errorcode from when the program crashed, and I've copied it into a Evernote doc, and here it is:

Really hope someone can help me!

I would back up wallet right away - (to multiple sources not just 1 place) -

Then uninstall program, reinstall from scratch

copy the wallet over at the end and see if it works...

Could be dying/bad RAM or bad hard drive

Yeah you should backup your wallet file!!

After that i would try to remove the whole bitcoin data directory. (I would say there is a problem with the blockchain file.) Then start bitcoin again let it download the blockchain again (might take a while). When its done exit it, copy your backedup wallet file over the new created and start bitcoin again.

If you don't see your coins you have to close it again and start bitcoin with the -rescan option.

Alright I'm making a backup of the entire folder. When I'm done, I will delete everything related to bitcoins on my macbook, then reinstall Bitcoin-Qt, let it download the entire blockchain again. When it's done, I will overwrite the wallet.dat file on my harddisk, with the one I just made a backup of.

Is that right? Just want to make sure Smiley

you need to run it from the command line

if it was windows the command would be

bitcoin.exe -rescan

I think it is very similar (no .exe) on Macs in terminal
