I got some risers in today and added a 5770. total is 2 5870, 1 6950 and a 5770. I've been uninstalling and installing cat versions like 12.8, 12.4, stream v2.6 and v2.8. What is the definitive answer? What driver combo do I go for?

p.s. average sustained before the addition of the 5770 was ~1100Khs.
OS: Windows 7 x64

Typically 5xxx and 6xxx cards mine BTC better with OCL runtimes before 2.6 (2.5 was awesome, IMO). However, it looks like you're mining LTC, so you'll need 2.6 or later.

My advise, uninstall all your drivers. Wipe the AMD CCC software, and use DriverFusion to uninstall all old versions of the driver. Uninstall all the SDKs (you don't need them now anyways).

Then install 12.8 and the included OpenCL runtime that came with it. It's pretty much the most stable one you'll find right now.

Or you could mine BTC and follow the CGMiner FAQ.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

I got frustrated and reinstalled windows. with cat 12.8 and app 2.5 installed, total right now is 944Kh/s. System ram is 8Gig. I feel like adding the forth card did nothing to output. As if the output of the other cards has been shifted to the fourth card minus some output.

Unfortunately unless other miner clients mature, I will be using guiminer because of it's simplicity.

My hash rate on give-me-ltc is showing right now ~1370Kh/s. It's short from the 1600 I expected but I suppose that's life.

You should definitely try cgminer.
Go along the analytical readme and most likely you will be able to squeeze out more Kh/s from your cards

Using a neat program called "cgEasy" My miner is running on with default settings at dismal ~ 200Kh/s. The rate is slower to climb it's max than guiminer. I will attempt to modify the .bat and "optimize" it for my setup (multiple and mixed gpus)
