Group Buy Europe [Nederland]

updated: 27th of April

I. Group Buy Information

We will order 1 batch (10,000) chips from Avalon at a cost of 780 BTC

Product description:

the only payment accepted is Bitcoin.
the chips being sold are packaged and tested.
the lead time on the chips is 9 to 10 weeks.
made to order from TSMC foundry and then packaged and shipped.
the minimum order quantity is 10,000 chips and the maximum order quantity is 200,000.
the chips are identical to those in Avalon, clocking 282Mh/s per chip.
the password is “I understand and agree”.
communication protocol, reference board design provided in early May.
everything will be open source from FPGA to PCB design.
we do not offer technical support of any kind, this is final.
if you do not know what to do with the packaged chips, please do not purchase.

http://store.avalon-asics.com/?product=avalon-asic-chips-10000

II. Why another group buy ?

zefir and ragingazn628 offer a great deal, but I am convinced it will take them some time
to ship all their orders, besides this I think burnin and new-asics well be very busy with assembling ASICS.
Thus alternatives and decentralization would be very useful to many miners.

III. Price

10,000 chips (excl. shipping) cost 780 BTC
=> 1 chips = 0.078 BTC

As I am going to import as a private person I assume import tax to the Netherlands will be 21 % (I know it sucks).

21 % of 780 BTC = 163.8 BTC

Total Costs: 943.8 BTC

To make it easier and to pay for my effort and expenses I will charge 0.1 BTC per chip. (0.09438 chip costs + import taxes, 0.00562 fee)

Avalon chips 780 BTC
21 % tax     163.8 BTC
Fee:          56.2 BTC
Total:       1000 BTC

IV. Shipping

You will have two options, you can personally pick up your order in the following locations:

Brussels
Amsterdam
(evtl. I will add another city, if there is a demand)

or we will organize shipping via DHL, UPS (you will have to pay shipping fee)

V. Please post following information in this thread:

N Number of chips
B Bitcoins transfered
Bitcoin address
Forum nickname

Example: 200, 20,3594ter9ffwejiergij31sdsfd, MasterBoy89

Please only send your Bitcoins with a wallet you control !

You rather can send your BTC directly to this address: 1L79nCEzcPRFFKTk59QBRfgWDvgg75hDwr

but if you're more comfortable we also can use escrow.

VI. Trust

Why should you trust me ? I don't know, but if you want to meet me I will be at the Bitcoin meeting in Driebergen on May 3rd,
where we can discuss and you can ask me nearly any question.

VII. Assembly

I guess burnin/Neo-asics will be very busy thus the plan would be to build our own community assembler team. Preferably located
in the BeNeLux. Anyone interest in taking the lead ?

VIII. Order Status

500 Chips - 50 BTC - Hiroaki

Total orders: 500/10,000

If we have a assembler team i'm in.

But To make it easier and to pay for my effort and expenses I will charge 0.1 BTC per chip. is a bit to much. thats more than the chip costs.

[I just updated the post ]
To clarify I do not charge a fee of 0.1 BTC per chip this is the total price for one chip.
I think the fee is quite low: 0.00562

(0.09438 chip costs + import txes, 0.00562 fee)

The best is you can even save shipping cost and pick them up yourself.

With an assembly team we are really just in the beginning, but this will be one of the most important points to give everybody a chance to create an ASIC miner...

@tidus_13
First idea is to order chips to have them asap in Europe.

2nd Everybody that ordered with us will have the possibility to let it assemble, I will open another thread, where we can discuss further proceedings.

Well I agree! It's good to have more initiatives for DIY-projects!

- Good for fast distribution of hashrate
- No centralisation of the hashrate
- It brings the ASIC technology more accessible for a broader audience
- And so on...

Besides, multiple ASIC projects is the way for Bitcoin to survive in the future and suits perfectly in the way Bitcoin is meant to be!

All of the great idea's out there... I'm still wondering about the time-schedule. What are the prospects? When it is possible to deliver and start mining?
Everyone is eager to be one of the first adopters! And so am I!  Grin

Learn us more about it!

If we have enough orders for one batch, we will directly order from Avalon.
They state:
Quote
the lead time on the chips is 9 to 10 weeks.

When the chips arrive at my place I will directly organize a pick up (as written above) in Amsterdam and Brussels or ship it if people prefer this option.

If you want to let it assemble with us, I can only tell you that we are currently working to set up a "community assembler team", where everybody that wants to contribute is highly welcome  Smiley

I am curious about the time needed to assemble such a ASIC-Unit. Or how do you see this will emerge?

As already mentioned help is always welcome...
After ordering #batch 1 our main focus will be def. to create an assembler team , as many people wrote me a pm, that they won't have the skills to do it themselves.
Though I really liked what burnin put already together: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=161715.0 I just think it would be very useful, if more people could assemble it...

You are in this batch if you send the amount for the chips you want to this address:  1L79nCEzcPRFFKTk59QBRfgWDvgg75hDwr (if you prefer we can also use a respected person here as escrow) and you post as above stated.

We probably found an external solution to make our PCBs Smiley
We are working hard on a solution to decentralize manufacturing of asics...

If you feel more secure you alsways can propose an escrow !

Because of lack of interest we decided to order as well with zefir. This offer is not anymore valid, we might organize another group buy as we are currently planning our board design...

Good luck everybody  Tongue Tongue
