Use Poloniex for receiving payments

Poloniex had been around for sometime now, and I  never had an issue with it ever since I used the site.  I even accept payment from the address of my poloniex account specially when I am about to receive an altcoin that is listed on tha site for a single transaction.  It saved me from lots of hassle of checking the altcoin wallet of possible malware, and downloading the blockchain.  Though I still believe that having a full control of our wallet is the best thing but I think there is no harm if we use  our account wallet address on a reputable site to accept payment.

It's not safe in longer to use Poloniex or other exchange site for receiving payments. There first must be came out security issue, your control over your money. These exchanges site only work to receive coin, if you send any other Token etc there you will lose them. To be safe and further any uses you should use own wallet which have good security.

That's very risk, even not recommended, because there's a possibility the exchange collapse or hijack.
I have bad experience keep coins on the exchange wallet(mintpal case) and I will not fall into same hole.

I personally use their wallet just for exchange, basically that's their usability.

Never okay.Doesn't matter what coin you have there,use the corresponding wallet.

Because eventually the altcoin is to be exchanged with bitcoin, which will be done at polo so it makes sense to receive the alts directly there.

What if polo gets hacked overnight ? Do you have any trust over the sites security system that it will never be hacked ? Historic events should speak for itself.

If you will be receiving and wil quickly convert an altcoin to bitcoin shortly after that, I think it will be okay just always transfer your bitcoin in your main wallet (I assume that it is not some kind of lousy web wallet) but if by chance you're planning to store it for a long time or you don't know when you will convert it, then it better to do what everyone says-- to use the official wallet . Polo is extremely popular and has the highest trading volumes so I don't see any reason why hackers wouldn't target it .

Always remember that an exchange is an exchange it is not a wallet

Same goes for buying altcoin too right? I can buy alt with fiat from someone and give them polo address to receive. Has anyone done this?  

It is wise if you plan to sell right away, I'm doing same with digibyte. I earn trough playing various games and my withdraw address is poloniex, I never sell all, I have some little amount there just in case. Maybe that is not wise but I don't risk too much, that is better then to download wallet just for some coin. I have some other coins that I hold there, nothing much, but I trade so I sell often and buy often.
