Hello.
A friend of mine want to sell his S3 miners farm.
He asked for 25 euro one miner.
I need some advice about the price as I think is too much.
What you think it's a normal price for an S3?

Nothing is impossible :-)

Not even the s5, and soon not even the s7 will make any profit so I cant for my life figure why anyone would buy a s3..they cost more than they produce.

If this friend still keeps going in the mining business, then the best thing for him/her to do would be upgrading those S3's with Hotmine upgrade kit (en.hotmine.io) or with Sidehack's upgrade boards, which are coming soon (this year?).

The resale value for S3 is from pretty low to close nothing.
I can not come up with any other reasonable idea for use with them than using them with these upgrade kits.

I'm confused whether or not you are directly selling these miners or if you're just asking for some advice on buying em; if you're only looking for the second, please move this to the general Mining subforum. The price seems good as you can get decent resale prices on these miners; I've gotten people to pay that much for S1s, and that was without shipping factored in. For mining these units are obsolete and don't do much good except generate heat and noise.

Firstly I need an advice. Secondly I wish to sell this items, if someone is interested.

Without power costs, they make $111/year at current diff, block reward and btc price.
I strongly believe that the diff will rise, i'm not sure if the price will rise to tough...

If we factor in a small power price of 5 cents/kwu, it'll cost a miner about $160/year to run these machines while only make $111/year in btc (and dropping).
http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=450.00&p=366.00&pc=0.05&pf=0.50&d=521974519553.62800000&r=12.50000000&er=1408.60000000&hc=0.00

The current break even power price seems to be 3 cents/kwu or less... It'll even drop further in the future as the diff goes up. If you pay more than 3 cents/kwu, you'll lose money while mining, if you pay 3 cents you'll make $14/year profit at current network conditions and price...

Long story short, i (and maybe other people) would be willing to buy these S3's (if they are in good condition) either as a toy to tinker with, an educational tool, a conversation starter, part of a collection, or as a loud space heater... Either way, i wouldn't give more than $10-$15 for one piece, escrow and shipping included. If i'd buy 4 or 5, i'd even expect a discount.

Hey,

where are u located? How many do you sell? Are they in good condition?

Ship costs EU for one and more?

To be fair S3s aren't very loud at all, in fact, they're one of the quietest miners of their size. You can even swap out fans if you feel they're too loud; my S3s were inaudible in my living room. Either way, they're really just for hobby or beginner miners.
