Hi All:

I have recently rebuilt one of my mining machines and my AV software is not liking CGMiner at all.  I looked around and see some mention to it being flagged... but virustotal.com doesn't seem to think it's malicious.  Any info?  Perhaps I missed info on this already.. and if so sorry.

Thanks!

Did you download it from github?
Your antivirus probably noticed it because it can be used inside a virus to mine for the hacker.

To be honest I "think" I got it from the github all available files location.. But to be sure I will re-download from there and give it another spin.  The machine is used to mine only.. I just don't want my wallet info getting out there.. even with 2 factor Auth.

Thanks!

hello,

due to the nature of crypto mining, cgminer has been used in some malware, which has caused most av's to now conclude that cgminer is malware.

The original is quite safe. just make sure that you download it from a reputable link, such as one on this forum and you should be fine. or http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/

even if it is still detected as a virus, just add it to your exclusions in your av settings.

Thanks

It looks like my original link was fine.  It's getting tagged to matter which one I use.  I am moving over to Litecoin mining with my GPU's so just wanted to make sure I was in the clear.  Thanks again.
