Hello

I've been breaking my head over this problem for the last 24 hours and I've tried almost everything in my arsenal.
Therefore i'd like to ask the opinion of this board as i can't think of any other measures.

I have a rig with the following:
- AMD FX8120 cpu
- 3 * AMD 6950 GPU's
- 1 * AMD 6570 GPU
- WD blue HDD
- CM silent power 1000 w PSU
- Gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud5
- Win 7pro OS

The problem is that when i start GUIminer i don't get shares, the cards load up and start under a load.
From the console i can see clear errors saying: verification failed, check hardware!

The following is a piece of the log:
2013-04-27 05:14:59: Listener for "Default": stratum.btcguild.com:3333 27/04/2013 05:14:59, Verification failed, check hardware! (0:0:Cayman, 93b0ccda)

I've tried the cards in another pc where they mine flawlessly.
I've reinstalled software and even the whole pc.
The cards are not overclocked, cooling is adequate.
The cards placed separately in the rig are also unsuccessfully.
The cards work as thy should when benchmarking.

Thanks in advance for all usefull comments!

After swapping out some hardware, the only likely cause to me seems the motherboard.

Anyone any ideas?

This was a solution to the same issue:

This error message comes from the miner kernel (the software that runs on your video card) returning a block hash that upon a double-check before sending is not a valid block hash. If it is happening all the time, there is a compatibility problem with the different versions of software/driver/hardware that you have installed.

If this is a mine-only machine using HD 5xxx-HD6xxx hardware, I would recommend using the ATI driver package 11.11 with it's included OpenCL (you must first manually remove the current driver and remove some files manually that aren't removed by the install). Then CGMiner or Phoenix software instead of GUIMiner, plus underclock your GPU memory to 300MHz.

Hope that helps Smiley

Hey thanks for the reply, i found that topic when i was searching earlier, it didn't seem to help.
The 11.11 drivers simply made my miners crash on startup.

I'm having this exact problem, except I'm mining with a 6970 and an nvidia 660ti. The 660ti mines flawlessly, but I get the errors with the 'Cayman'/6970.

Sorry for the gravedig, but this is a last ditch effort..

It may be worth noting that the 6970 doesn't have a display connected to it, my 660ti does. Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing the problem?

It might be worth trying out a "dummy plug" for the 6970. Easiest way would be with a DVI-to-VGA adapter, and 3 resistors with their legs in the appropriate VGA pin holes. That makes the 6970 "feel" like there's a monitor plugged in; otherwise, it might be going into some stand-by / power saving mode.

FWIW, i haven't had that happen with my 5850 nor with my 7770 (both secondary cards in my respective mining rigs), using Catalyst 12.6 on both.

Also, you might wanna consider changing the login to stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 Grin Less load on Slush's servers (due to using the Stratum protocol instead of the getwork on the api/api2 servers), plus "just" 2% fees Smiley (as opposed to 10% fees on api/getwork).

Lowering the intensity didn't do it unfortunately. Attempting to revert catalyst to 12.6, I'll update this post momentarily.

Uninstall the drivers and OpenCL / APP through Catalyst Install Manager, then restart into Safe Mode and use something like Driver Sweeper or Driver Fusion to clean up all the ATi / AMD display leftovers (trust me, there's a LOT of them).

Then reboot normally and install the "new" drivers. This is the best way to change the driver version (up or down) Smiley

Just got it working! So relieved..

My 6970 is mining at an average 386mh/s using 2 cores of my CPU and with the flags -v -w 128 on GUIminer, it also works on BFGminer and cgminer.

Solving the problem was greatly assisted by going into safemode a number of times and using 'driver fusion' the poster above me recommended (Thanks!) to remove all traces of nvidia and ati drivers (besides the registry entries because it doesn't do that unless you purchase the program, which worried me at first).

Apparently the issue was caused by not having VERY SPECIFIC DRIVERS and complicated additionally by not having full un-installations of the earlier drivers I installed, that being said - The LATEST drivers that were RECOMMENDED to me by ATI were the drivers that caused this issue to begin with.
I tried downloading different versions of the 'ATI stream SDK' which is now known as the 'AMD app SDK', that didn't work oddly enough..

I personally needed http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst126beta.aspx  NOTHING else worked.

No idea why, all I know is that I went through an inordinate amount of trouble to get this working.
I would never wish this upon anybody... So I hope my posting this helps somebody that needs it..

Now all I need is a massive bong rip and a 6 pack to help me forget this hellish experience..

Gateert,

Thank you for going to the trouble of describing the solution to this problem.  I spent most of an evening and the next day trying to get GUIMiner working.  Your summary of using Driver Fusion (the free version) to clean up the drivers and installing the beta driver version in your post worked for me as well.

The 6970 is running around 380 mh/s.

Your post was very much appreciated.

well i found something that would help i did not do anything like that i just did the following:

The problem look like located line 30 of the phatk kernel :

39 #ifdef BFI_INT

40 #define Ch(x, y, z) amd_bytealign(x, y, z)

41 #else

42 #define Ch(x, y, z) bitselect(z, y, x)

43 #endif

remove that code and replace it by :

Code:

#define Ch(x, y, z) bitselect(z, y, x)

The amd_bytealign seems have changes and that cause the error, once you change that it will work notmally not sure if this will affect perfomance but at least i was able to start  and also was able to play BF4 lol

I can confirm the above code change works.

Using lastest drivers and an AMD HD5770 I got nothing but Verification failed, check hardware and 0 shares

The file to edit is phatk.cl

The line is 40, I commented out the original line .

Code:
#ifdef BFI_INT
//#define Ch(x, y, z) amd_bytealign(x, y, z)
#define Ch(x, y, z) bitselect(z, y, x)
#else
#define Ch(x, y, z) bitselect(z, y, x)
#endif

after 9 minutes of running I now have 22 shares accepted
